On September 7, my baby brother, a truck driver for over a decade, lost his life in a fatal accident while transporting a load from Charlotte to Florida. While trying to process this unimaginable loss, I learned he had no life insurance, adding another weight to an already grieving family. On September 9, I discovered Truckers Final Mile and spoke with Robert. He was compassionate, patient, and understanding. After I explained our situation and provided the necessary information, he handled everything else. Within 24 hours, Robert called to tell me they would cover the cost of transporting my brother’s remains home. Their assistance saved our family hundreds of dollars, but what they gave me was worth even more: one less burden to carry while grieving. Robert and Truckers Final Mile, thank you for your compassion, for honoring my brother’s service to the trucking industry, and for helping bring him home. This grieving sister will never forget your kindness.

I joined ALA last November and have discovered the most welcoming individuals who are serving the community in more ways than I had ever imagined. They boast, "From newborns to seniors," and it is absolutely accurate. Talented crafters make blankets or collect onesies for NICU babies, a small army descends on local schools with shoes and books enriching the lives of children and parents, food is distributed to the hungry, unhoused individuals benefit from clothing donations, and local senior artists share their wares at Blue Portal. However, what Assistance League is known for is their thrift shops. Loyal customers line up excited to build a unique outfit, find a one of a kind treasure, or simply enjoy the smile of the red and blue aproned volunteers. It's a truly extraordinary organization. Shop, donate, volunteer!

The Native Forward Scholars Fund has changed my life. I have been able to pursue opportunities, both personally and academically, that would not be possible without this scholarship. Native Forward supports a comprehensive approach to higher education by eliminating financial barriers, creating learning opportunities, and expanding monetary support beyond tuition costs for students throughout their academic journeys. There have been instances throughout my academic journey where I have struggled due to personal reasons and it was reflected in my grade point average. Rather than being met with probation or suspension, the Native Forward team extended the support and grace I needed to continue pursuing my degrees. The Native Forward team has been a constant in my higher learning journey for nearly a decade, providing the necessary guidance and resources to successfully walk in both worlds allowing me to become a PhD candidate and better relative today.

My name is Cheryl Anderson and I work in the capacity of Shelter Manger with the Tucumcari Animal Shelter in Tucumcari, NM. We recently brought in a formerly chained dog that was emaciated, shut down, and had a chain wrapped around his neck as a collar. I reached out to Angel with NMDOG as she has the most experience with chained dogs of anyone I know in NM. She gave me step by step instructions as to what to do to keep us and the dog safe but to get that chain off of him. AWO Rodriguez and I got to work using her instructions and we had that chain off of Jace quickly! The second that chain was removed from his neck he became an entirely new dog! His tail came out from under him, his eyes brightened and by the next morning he was laying on his kuranda bed and wagging at us!! It was the BEST feeling ever to see what a change unchaining Jace made!! Thanks to Angela with NMDOG he is now living life to the fullest!! Thank you Angela, we appreciate you more than you know!!

Hello my name is Arthur I want to share with you all what me and my wife went thought just asking for blankets and for clothes. First off I went to check and see if they were living out clothes (they were) but I was to late they said come by 11am and I can get some clothes the next day I was there not later then 9am and I was told they were not giving out any clothes to anyone but that if we want we can buy some clothes from them I was outraged at the fact that I had to pay for for clothes that were given to a shelter. My wife and I were trying to find a place that gives out blankets granted it was late evening and we were cold we saw a friend of ours that told us if we go to steel bridge they will give us blankets to keep warm we went and they actual security guard started acting like we had asked him for his own personal items he went in and brought some guy with him and this guy started yelling from the sec he stepped out the door at us saying it to late to get anything

Visiting Nicaragua was deeply meaningful, but meeting Xochilt after 4 years of sponsoring her was unforgettable. What started as a small act grew into a special bond through letters and connection. Spending time with her and the other children reminded me how much even the smallest gestures truly matter. Seeing their joy, especially during a simple ice cream treat was incredibly moving. Empowerment International supports every aspect of a child’s life, creating real, lasting impact. To the teachers, organizers, and volunteers thank you! And Xochilt, meeting you was the highlight of my trip. I’m so proud of you 💛

I can’t say enough about Wings for Life International. They are truly doing more for the community than any other nonprofit I know. The people there are genuine, compassionate, and have HUGE hearts—they truly care about helping others, and I’ve seen that firsthand. Every counseling session I attended was completely voluntary, and the level of care, support, and commitment they provide is outstanding. The impact they make is real, meaningful, and life-changing. They truly are the best.

GGAB is a great nonprofit that is helping children by giving them a fighting chance

Not a big fan of this soccer club. Our daughter was playing on the team last fall and spring seasons. She liked her team in the fall, and we tried to get her back on the same team in the spring. We requested it, but she was put on a new team instead with smaller kiddos. The practices on the new spring team were spotty, some times the coach wouldnt show up until 30 minutes late. Not sure why she wasnt able to get back on the same team. We didnt have a good experience. We are gonna try a new club, lots of them around. AYSO, rapids, YMCA, etc.

After I filed grievance against a case manager who told me that I was "burning bridges" by complaining about mistreatment, my case management services abruptly ended for eight consecutive months. The director defamed me to the City of Albuquerque, stating I was denied entry to other agencies for aggressive behavior. Filing grievances/complaints, or seeking an investigation by regulatory boards/oversight groups is not aggressive. The agency also spoke poorly about me to other agencies, calling me a "Karen" and saying that I am "difficult to work with."<br><br>It's my understanding that mental health providers are expected to treat clients with respect and use respectful language when communicating with or about clients. In my opinion, this agency continuously fails in this area. They often gossip about clients to each other, to other providers, and even to other clients. <br><br>The agency also sent me an email stating they have terminated other clients for failure to participate in supportive services, and threatened to take my housing away if I didn't sign a document saying that I "willingly" opted out of services. This is a direct violation of the CoC Standards of Care policy and my case management services abruptly ended after I filed my first grievance. Not willingly.<br><br>I feel that I was retaliated against for filing grievances and seeking help from the state Licensing board.<br><br>The directors of the agency, and the board members, are all related to each other or are very good friends with dual relationships. The CEO pays herself almost 100k a year. What isn't transparent is how much money she pays her daughter who is also the assistant director that lives in the same home.

We have adopted all of our animals from rescues and our experience with Tickled Pink was by far the BEST! They were great with communication and making sure the pup (Raven) would be a good fit for us and us for the her. The dogs were kept and well cared for in a loving home. They obviously choose their foster parents appropriately as transitioning to a new home was easy or Raven. They provided all of the dog's weights and medical history in a book so going to the vet the first time was a breeze. Raven was one of seven 1/2 Weimaraner/ 1/2 German Shepherd puppies delivered and cared for by TPWR. We were e mailed photos and updates as we waited for the pups to be old enough to go to their forever homes. They all went to great homes and the rescue set up a Facebook group for us to stay connected. (AMAZING) So fun to see how everyone is doing, discuss health issues and just laugh at the antics of these amazing dogs. I have every confidence that this organization is top notch and I have met the fosters personally at the dog's first birthday party (yes we did do this). They are amazing, loving people with the dogs well being their number one focus. I am very grateful for them and would love to adopt another dog from them in the future.

It has been a few weeks since I received my ramp and I love it! The first word anyone says when they see it is "wow". Thanks to your organization and the generous volunteers in Valencia County who donate their time and talents. I was arriving at the point where it was not an if but when I fell down the steps. I no longer have that worry. Getting groceries in the house was a major chore. Now I just unload the trunk onto my rolling walker and wheel them right into the kitchen. Thanks again for the wonderful work you are doing to change people's lives<br>Susan M.

June's Senior Cat Rescue is providing a unique service to New Mexico communities. I never realized the need until our beloved cat, Ernest, reached his later years and we observed what aging does to a cat. We were fortunate to be able to love him, nurture him and embrace his limitations, giving him an environment he could thrive in with love and comfort in his final years. But sadly, not everyone can, or wants to -- this is when June's Senior Cat Rescue steps in. While many shelters exist to support kittens, June's Senior Cat Rescue is focused solely on senior cats, providing lifesaving care for senior cats who are often overlooked for adoption and euthanized before their time. JSCR also acts as a resource to pet owners and the community, educating and supporting to help seniors cats thrive. I joined the organization as a Board Member and have been overwhelmed with the kindness and love that JSCR is able to provide to cats to help them thrive in their final years. We hope that others will continue to share this passion and support the cause through volunteering and donations as we strive to reach and impact more senior cats in 2025.

NM re entry has been a blessing to me for giving me the opportunity and tools to become a better person and leave my old life and habits behind. Due to there assistance I've been able to focus solely on my own path on how to become a better version of myself. I have never experienced the type of support like they offer at NM re entry

I have been volunteering with Ethos as a tutor for over 11 years now. I have tutored students from ages 19 to 82 for basic literacy. It warms my heart to see a 68-year-old gentleman who could not read progressed to passing a driver's test to receive his license (his goal). He not only had to learn to read but also have to learn how to navigate the internet for his test. This is only one of many of my students that I am so proud of. I learn from each of them. I received so much admiration from each one. It's a pleasure working and learning from Ethos's supportive staff. I am glad to be on the Ethos team! <br>Carol

Hole in the Heart is working to make a difference in the awareness and treatment of congenital heart disease (CHD) within New Mexico. As a mental health professional, I have witnessed Hole in the Heart work passionately to increase the public and professional awareness of the long-term emotional impact that CHD can have on an individual and family, such as the development of PTSD, anxiety and depression, and the overall need for proactive treatment and support from providers. This additional information can be life changing for those going through the fear, sadness and stress of a CHD experience. They are going great things!!

I've been lucky enough to live in the same neighborhood as OffCenter for the past two decades. That means I can witness first hand the impact OffCenter has on so many people in our community, creating a place truly welcoming to all. OffCenter is a place that serves as a saving grace to many, and a bright spot in the day for anyone who visits or participates. It is a creative outlet for all who enter where we are encouraged to let our light shine and share the treasure of ourselves with each other. OffCenter is a jewel in our city.

I have been volunteering for the past several years and the museum just gets better and better. I enjoy meeting with visitors from Albuquerque, from New Mexico, other states and other countries. And all seem to have such positive things to say about our little gem. I encourage you to stop by when in Albuquerque. You won't be disappointed.

Dogs are well looked after with this organization. They have been fairly consistent since 2003 and are responsible with funds. Foster homes are their greatest need.
