Great volunteer organization that I am proud to be associated with and support. They help our wounded Heroes through outdoor recreational therapy.

Bornomala is contributing to the society for Bangla Language learning and culture practice for about a decade. It has expanded its footprint to the community within a short period of time.

This local non profit is run by a family with a background in theater, dance, gymnastics, cheer, and many more talents. You will see how a family was raised while experiencing a love for life with The Performing Arts.

Trevor and his family have taken an experience that breaks many, and turned it into a way to help others with this fantastic non-profit. They have deep insight into the ways to positively affect the experience of children battling cancer, and are tireless in their efforts to recruit donations of both toys and time from community members!

Amazing work! People forget about all the parties involved for helping children get back on their feet after a traumatic event. Thank you ladies for playing a key role in that progress.

Youth Corporation, Inc. ~ Youth Outreach Services (YCI-YOS) has provided delinquency prevention, intervention, and reentry programming for about 20 years to youths who have run afoul with the law. It teaches juveniles how to become productive and contributing members of society. <br> <br>YCI-YOS has always been committed to youth, but its recent initiatives reach out in a more comprehensive way to help juveniles and it endeavors to prepare youths to make positive contributions to their respective communities. To that end, YCI-YOS programming has expanded to reduce recidivism, thereby making for a safer society and helping to reduce delinquency-related expenditures in the Washington, DC area. Additionally, an exciting aspect of YCI-YOS programming is that it encourages involvement in and inspires commitment to pro-social community activities. <br> <br>It is because of its renewed and expanded commitment to young people and to the larger community that I believe that YCI-YOS is a GREAT nonprofit. <br> <br>As a professor of criminal justice and criminology, I have dedicated myself to efforts related to prevention and reentry, and to research to improve such efforts. In fact, I have been researching delinquency and reentry programs for more than 20 years, and studies over that time period have increasingly shown that the types of programs that are offered through YCI-YOS are the most effective at reducing recidivism and they provide the best chance for juveniles to turn their lives around and become law-abiding and contributing citizens. Research indicates, for example, that the programs that are most effective at reducing recidivism include family counseling, substance abuse counseling, mentoring, and cognitive-behavioral treatment programs such as job training and academic support services. And, those are just a few of the programs offered by YCI-YOS. <br> <br>I will continue to volunteer with YCI-YOS for the next several months to evaluate programming and help its dedicated staff and Founder, Elizabeth Charity. I've met Michelle and Letters of Hope in a Nonprofit Tech conference.<br>It is amazing how short, simple yet powerful letters, can have such a great impact.<br>I hope more people will get the letters, and enjoy them.

I attended this fair as a guest three years ago and it has given me the chance to live the dream of actually being a faire performer, something that probably wouldn't have happened anywhere else anytime soon. The atmosphere is relaxed, but professional and I plan on mkaing the 8-hour round trip drive to perform there again for as long as they'll have me.

I got involved with the Armed Services YMCA of Alaska in 2007 while trying to create a fishing tournament that would take returning Combat Veterans fishing for a day out of Seward Alaska. In the process of trying to get information out of the Military Bases about how many people they would be able to make available, I was directed to the ASYMCA to use as a liaison. After that first very successfull year I have partnered up with the ASYMCA and continue to take upwards of 400 returning Combat Veterans fishing each year. I was asked to be a board member in 2009 and was very happy to accept, I am involved in several non-profits but none that make me as proud as the ASYMCA of Alaska.

I learned about this art group from a fellow artist several years ago and thought I would go to a meeting to see what it was all about. I’m still with them! It’s a great group of people. I really enjoy being able to meet other artists, learning about different mediums and experiencing the PWAS events. ??????

My daughter attended the summer camp and after school program while she transitioned from elementary to middle school. The summer program exposed her to a few unique opportunities (ie. learning about crew/rowing and a trip to NYC), but the rigidity/rudeness/arrogance of some of the staff was extremely off-putting. <br> <br>I think The House is used to dealing with low income and/or dysfunctional families, so they seemed to carry this "we're saving the world" sense of elitism into every interaction. <br> <br>At the end of the day, they're offering childcare and after one too many contentious discussions with their staff, we opted for another provider.

This organization has been striving to help those that were severely wounded in the war. They have advocated for the issues that needed to be addressed and presented their findings of interviewing caregvivers and veterans. Great organization.

I attended Jeru from July to September 2010, overlapping with my first month in 6th grade. In my time there I suffered rampant physical and mental abuse, blatant favoritism, neglect, and overmedication. I have autism, ADHD, and was more recently diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD, and Borderline Personality disorder. I was defiant to staff, standing up for myself when they wronged me. Mrs. Butler one day early on had her son, a military veteran who ran his own group home literally a few houses down in the same neighborhood, and as punishment for not finishing all my food, he made me perform “up-downs,” rapid standing and sitting on the ground for a prolonged period. When I wasn’t going fast enough, I was picked up by my right arm, lifted in the air, and had my legs kicked forward from under me where I was then dropped hard on my butt to the ground. This when on for 8-10 minutes before I was allowed to finish on my own. Part 1/many

The Armed Services YMCA provides much-needed services for our young military families, from child care to helping with food insecurities. Seeing the work they do across the country with organizations like the Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House Foundation, and the Elizabeth Dole Foundation is inspiring.

This beautiful group performed at our senior living community today. Ebenezer has done great things with this core group already. I highly recommend them!

High Cloud has failed to document its public service for the past several years. it has not filed its required IRS Form 990s. Hence, the public does not know what it commits and spends it monies on. Requests for copies of its financial go unanswered. When looking at its declared activities, there is very little to justify its status as a 501c3. High Cloud's most recent activity on its website is from over 1 year ago...when its board members traveled to Columbia South America and taught a class on brushing ones teeth and dispensed pens and toilet paper. <br><br>It's difficult to contribute to this organization if all its funds are dedicated to personal travel of the board members for such marginal impact.

Thankful to have these brave volunteers in our community who help save lives everyday!

I love WCC! This is an organization of people who love singing! Because there are no audition required for joining, and the only fee ($35) goes towards covering the cost of music (which is then yours to keep!), this choir is accessible to anyone! We have a lot of fun - come join us!

I first came in contact with this organization when searching for a Master Naturalist Program in my area. PWCA sponsors the Merrimac Farm Chapter of Master Naturalists. I went through the program and enjoyed learning from and working with the conservation minded individuals who make up PWCA. Since becoming a certified Master Naturalist, I have taken part in many PWCA activities, making friends and continuing to learn. This group truly encompasses all the facets of conservation from civic responsibility to conservation landscape gardening for our yards. I would recommend them to anyone who would like to make a difference in our environment and help preserve it for future generations.
