Led by its tireless founder, Linda Driscoll, for 15 years this outstanding organization has provided vital support to thousands of girls and young women from under-served communities through sports equipment grants, uniforms, instructional clinics, registration fees and more -- fostering healthy lifestyles, positive outlooks and happier, more productive futures.

This organization continuously fights to fund important research efforts that will allow us to better understand pediatric brain cancers. As a result, we will be able to provide those impacted by this disease with more advanced and less toxic treatment options.

As a Board member, watching the growth and expansion of Plugged In as an organization, as well as the development of our students, has been most rewarding. The staff and instructors are nothing short of amazing! In addition, being in a Plugged In band myself allowed me to perform some of my favorite songs on stage with other musicians, fulfilling a "bucket list" item :-)

An organization of passionate individuals who go above and beyond to help people in Ukraine affected by the war. They help deliver the donations to Ukraine themselves, so you can make donations knowing that they WILL get to a person in need and make a difference.

I donated a few astronomy books sitting around in my house to one of STDY's book drives, and saw how huge of an impact they were making.

I have had the privilege of working with Ms. Rose Clervil from the National Center on Family Homelessness. Ms.Clervil came to Sandra's Lodge Family shelter located in Waltham, MA. She conducted many workshops on trauma, mentoring, health issues etc. Ms. Clervil also helps with all aspects of homeless families in our scattered site program. The research The National Center On Family Homelessness has done on children's truama throughout the homeless population in the United States is outstanding. This organization is one of the best non-profit agencies we have had the privalge to work with.

The Usher Syndrome Society is a dynamic and impactful organization that goes far beyond simply raising awareness. Their multifaceted approach is truly remarkable and their work is vital. Their innovative campaigns, like the Times Square takeover and the commercial featuring Rebecca Alexander, raise crucial awareness. Seeing the faces of those affected, including my own children, in their "Shine a Light" exhibit and on Times Square billboards, is incredibly moving. Their creativity and innovation in fundraising and awareness campaigns ignite hope and drive real change. From the deeply personal 'Sense Stories' to dynamic events like 'Sight, Strength, and Sound,' they create diverse platforms for connection and understanding. Their 'Conversations with USH' interview series provides invaluable insights, while their dedication to producing docuseries and films brings the experiences to a wider audience, fostering empathy and awareness. The Usher Syndrome Society blog is a platform where anybody connected to the Usher syndrome community can share their story, which helps fundraising efforts and support their mission to find treatments and a cure for all types of Usher Syndrome. What truly sets them apart is their unwavering commitment to funding groundbreaking research. Every dollar donated fuels crucial studies, bringing us closer to treatments. This is organization that is truly making a profound and lasting difference.

95% of the funds raised go for research. The only reason I did not rate this 5 stars was the size of salaries and benefits for just a few individuals.

The Needham Community Council worked with me to coordinate a volunteer activity for The Needham Do-Something Club, a group of high school students working to make a difference. With my peers, I helped to sort and hang clothes for the thrift shop. The experience was fulfilling, and I enjoyed making a difference within my community.

Words cannot begin to describe what an incredible program this is! I was fortunate enough to go with a friend who also is a survivor. From registration to the farewell it was an absolutely positive experience. I had never fly fished before and I ended the trip catching the biggest fish thanks to remarkable guides who volunteer their time as well as their boats. To get men to share their innermost experience, strength and hope on their individual battle with cancer is a spiritual moment I will carry with me forever. I’m deeply moved by this program and the incredible individuals involved in it.

I developed Stevens Johnson Syndrome a year ago, leaving my eyes drastically damaged. My eye doctor at Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary recommended BFS in Needham. A couple weeks later I was in an appointment with Dr. Lynette Johns and soon after, fitted for PROSE devices. That was the best decision I have ever made. This place helped me regain my sight, I would recommend it to anyone.

For the past six years, my role as a board member for Needham Steps Up has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I've had the pleasure of working with a group of passionate individuals who truly believe in the potential of these deserving students. Needham Steps Up has helped change the trajectory for many students, putting them on a sustainable path toward a future filled with promise and achievement. I can't wait to see what they do next.
