The Giving Garden is a well run non-profit serving folks in need of healthy food and the local community. The garden is the heart of the operation, with a savvy head gardener leading the volunteers to work with a huge variety and abundance of vegetables, fruit, and animal products. It’s run in a permaculture style/organic/traditional farming style, which is beneficial to the environment, pollinators, and people eating the food. In addition to the garden, they host gobs of fantastic camps for kids, festivals with venders, seasonal gatherings and more. They are also host to a nature school onsite, which both my children have attended. The Giving Garden is run by really good, smart, ambitious, and organized people, making it a success. I will forever support this organization for the incredible work they do.

This organization is phenomenal. The amount of impact that they make in the community continuously amazes me. They have been a great partner to our organization, and we continue to identify new ways that we can support Project U First. We have worked with them both in our facilities and within the community. Erica Wright always makes herself available to connect with our employees and explain the importance of the work they are doing.

The Throw Away Kids Network is a prison outreach program to serve the needs of juveniles currently inside correctional facilities around the country . We believe we are called to LOVE, SUPPORT, and bring LIGHT and HOPE to this lost generation. This generation is IMPORTANT and VALUABLE to God and to us, as we help them search for meaning in life and something genuine to live for. We also believe that their talents and gifts are from God and can be used for God. It is our prayer that lives will be radically touched and changed by the music, speakers and outreach provided through The Throw Away Kids Network. <br> <br>VISION: <br>Our vision is to reach kids while they are incarcerated, on the street or anywhere else. Many of them feel unloved, unwanted and have no where to turn. We want to provide them with the opportunity to learn and know God. Through our actions, we pray they see Jesus in us. Through our outreach to the community, we get rappers, bikers and motivational speakers – all of which have a Christian platform – to volunteer in visiting various juvenile correctional facilities. They help us in spreading the word of God and to show these children they are not forgotten. We pray that one seed can be planted to bring about a change in a kid's life. Brightcomm Success is My Visual is a very vital and necessary non profit in the metro Atlanta area. It supports families, children and all those in need. I became aware of the organization because my late husband's daughter, Sonjanique Ferrell is the Founder of the nonprofit. Like her father, Sonjanique goes above and beyond the call of duty to help anyone in need. She has a heart to serve and Brightcomm is an extension of that. Brightcomm partnered with me to honor my husband Robert in raising funds for Pancreatic cancer research and was very helpful in bringing awareness to it in the Cobb County area. I would highly suggest giving and volunteering and getting to know what Brightcomm does to further and assist all in need.

While living in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 2008-2009, I volunteered with Missionvale Care Center. My first visit to the Care Center was jolting and within minutes of arriving, I knew my heart would never be the same.<br /><br />Nothing could have prepared me for the conditions in which I witnessed nearly 100,000 people living. In America, we have shelters for our animals that are safer and sturdier than their shacks I saw made of discarded wood pallets and tin with dirt floors and giant rocks heaved on top to hold down the 'roof.'<br /><br />Too many people in the U.S. still feel occasional hunger pains, but it's nothing compared to the malnutrition I saw in Missionvale. While the healthcare debate rages on in my country, I saw the agony of the walking dead who have never known that there is such a thing called 'healthcare,' let alone have access to it.<br /><br />But in the midst of such desperation, one woman saw the need and answered the call. In 1988, Sister Ethel Normoyle, an Irish Catholic nun and nurse by trade, stood atop a hill looking into Missionvale and knew she must help. Under the shelter of the only tree in Missionvale, Sister Ethel started tending to the people's wounds and began teaching children the alphabet and how to write. <br /><br />Understanding those humble beginnings, I was overwhelmed throughout my initial tour of the Care Center she has built. It is simultaneously heartbreaking and hopeful to see nearly 200 children in the K-7 school Sister Ethel built knowing that without her, without this school, they would have no chance at an education. I felt nauseous as I looked at one of only 16 water taps in the community sticking out of the muddy ground and saw kids struggling to maneuver heavy barrels of water they must fetch for their family's drinking, bathing, and laundry. I fought back tears every second in the Care Center's Nutrition Unit as I handed more than 700 people a half loaf of bread and a small scoop of fortified soup powder. I was so conflicted by feeling devastated knowing that this would be their only food for the day and feeling their genuine gratitude every time our eyes met and hands touched as they took the food and said, 'Thank you.'<br /><br />I've seen pictures, but I've not been able to bring myself to go out into the community with the home care givers that Sister Ethel has trained to provide basic medical attention to those too sick to come see the volunteer doctor at the medical clinic. And I've not been able to control my emotions as tears flow freely while I clap and sing with the people in the interfaith, non-denominational church.<br /><br />During that first visit, I held Sister Ethel's hands and vowed to be back to do whatever I could to help. Upon repatriating to the U.S. in 2009, my wife and I co-founded Missionvale USA with 100% of all donations going directly to Missionvale Care Center. We focus on fundraising for sustainable programs centered in education, nutrition, healthcare, and shelter. <br /><br />We visit the Care Center as often as possible ' usually about every 18 months. It's where we feel the greatest version of ourselves as we stand in service of others, trying in our own small way to help heal the world.

Precious Jewels Learning, Inc. is the best non-profit for children's programs. I volunteer for the reading program, and the children enjoy listening to, and interacting with the stories. We use our imaginations to travel back in time, to enjoy the sounds of the rain forest, and to explore the jungles of Madagascar. The experience is very awesome because the children and I are learning together. Some of our favorite activities are playing scrabble, shaving cream spelling relay, and reading to our therapy dog Roxie.

We are big fans of the Girl Scouts! The leadership program, the career introspective opportunities, the shared culture, and the chance to make great friends has impacted the lives of my girls and myself. Girl Scouts gives a safe chance for girls to develope leadership skills, to demonstrate them, and to reflect on improvement and success. It's way more than cookies :) !! This particular council has listened to the volunteer's needs and has changed to be more supportive with material and support staff. We look forward to a long relationship with scouting!
