After our son/brother, Randall, passed away in 1996, we wanted a way to keep his memory alive while serving children in need in our community. We established the Randall Speck Special Needs Fund and have been amazed at the number of children we have been able to assist. It is definitely the best feeling one can get knowing that Randall's fund is helping kids get the medical attention they need and all of the credit for the success goes to Dave Estorge and the Memorial Hospital Foundation. All of their funds continue to provide much needed assistance for a variety of causes and we are proud to be a part of the MHG Foundation. Carol & Richard Speck and Allison & Jason Walker

This organization is an absolute joke. Have you read their cover what they have online about them exactly what is it they do. So I asked. Being homeless now at age 63 due to disability. I worked all my life as a legal assistant and evidently I paid in too much in taxes that my disability check is too much for them to desire to help me at all. However it's not enough to cover a month's rent even at the lowest wrong of properties on the Mississippi coast. <br><br>When I pinned them down exactly what do you do... I was told that they are the go-between between the disabled homeless person and the housing authority like I fill out the paperwork and they go deliver it to the housing authority.. oh I see because g I can come to you to get the paperwork filled out but I can't go take it to the housing authority myself. <br><br>When I finally did find a place I could afford, it was that I could afford the rent but not the deposit which was pretty low actually and they squirmed around and only provided $150 towards the deposit to get a 63-year-old person who worked all her life paying taxes a place to live. Would not come off of the $300 deposit.<br><br>Needless to s<br><br><br><br>The place ended up being shut down by code enforcement, and I'm homeless again. <br><br>There's no help from them <br><br>they let me go two years without even communicating with me. <br><br>It is a crying shame that the people who work all their lives get no assistance when they become disabled. All of the help goes to the people who never worked and collecting )lSSI or have a drug addiction or have a bunch of kids.

This is a robotics group that consists of volunteer faculty, mentors, and students from West Harrison High School. They compete in the FIRST organization (https://www.firstinspires.org) Tech Challenge (FTC) and the Robotic Competition (FRC) by brainstorming, designing, building, programming, and troubleshooting robot development while documenting our activities and mentoring both team members from our high school freshmen to seniors and other robotics teams in the local area. Every year FIRST develops a competition for FRC and FTC that present new and unique challenges for the organization to create programmable robots that can solve those challenges in many different ways. Sponsors may donate funds or award grants for the different teams to purchase robotics parts, technology resources, and pay for food, lodging, and transportation to competitions.

Volunteered at the Youth for Christ Waterpark lock-in. I am amazed by the respect that most of the kids had. If you have not helped at a function I highly recommend it. Would love to see church youth groups challenge each other to step up and lead by example.

The Marsha Barbour center is CLOSED. Unfortunately this center was built too far from communities that it could have served. The community where it was built does not support it due to their lack of disposable income. Grants seem to have been spent elsewhere, and no maintenance is being provide for the building, or pool area. Last time I tried to use the pool it was covered in green slime and no one was around to answer questions. The phone has been disconnected. The people who run this center also run apartments in Gulfport for homeless people, and donate goats for people in the Sudan. No audit has ever been done at the Marsha Barbour center, so who knows how funds are being spent. According to their last 1099 some of their funds were spent on their apartments rather than on the Marsha Barbour center, or at least thats how it appears to me.
