I am so honored and pleased to know the leadership and staff of the Boys and Girls Club of Hood County. This is such an important program. As a parent and professional, I know too well how important it is to have trustworthy care afterschool. The Boys and Girls club is not just an after school program. They provide so much more to make continued learning fun and still educational even after a long day at school. We are so blessed to have the club in Hood County. I worked with the craft time. We could see the joy in their eyes when they finished a craft and could take it home to keep for themselves or give to family members or friends. We read to the children when they finished early. They could go to our library to read a book for themselves or ask an adult to share the book with them.

I just love working with The Field of Flags group... they are very warm and friendly... definitely become like family ??????

I have volunteered with Youth Direct for many years. I believe in this ministry so much that I have traveled as far as Houston and Wichita Falls just to be able to minister to youth that are in prison. This ministry is definetely Christ centered and reaching out to a hard to reach group. I will continue to volunteer with Youth Direct. Kevin

Opportunity House is a Christian-based 501(c)(3) ministry formed out of a community survey in 2012. The community answered the call of several families suffering temporary homelessness. Several concerned citizens of the community formed this non-profit ministry to help get Hood County residents back on their feet.<br><br>Our strategic goal is to involve our community partners and churches to adopt an individual or family to help support them while we walk them through becoming self–sufficient. OH is committed to removing barriers and fostering long-term betterment.<br><br>When program participants come to OH they find a place where compassion and accountability meet. At Opportunity House, we work on personal integrity and reliability. We expect progress, not perfection. We understand that it takes time to meet challenges. Many individuals we serve are dealing with complicated grief and unresolved dysfunction from their past which contributed to their wrong choices. OH supports them in examining their hidden positive feelings, such as hope, strength, and forgiveness as they discover worth and value in Christ.<br><br>As of the beginning of 2019, we have served over 60 residents and successfully moved individuals through mentorship, educational enrichment programs, support groups, and faith-based practices. In 2018 we served ten residents and had over 40 referrals. The average stay was 100 nights. Many of these men arrived hopeless and downtrodden. Five had been released from jail. Others were living in tents, vehicles, motels and even on the streets. Unemployment played a major role in their homelessness, as did volatile family relationships. Opportunity House provides qualifying people a viable option for this type of life. We collaborate with churches and community resource agencies to walk with our residents to attain their individual goals.<br><br>Of the ten people we served, seven now have stable housing and employment. One is pursuing a career in ministry and is a major contributor to our mentorship program. <br><br>A recent graduate from the program and says that he wouldn’t change a thing about the program. He worked the program and successfully met all his goals made some friends for life and now has a supportive group of family to share life with ♥️

I am a big fan of what this organization does! As their website says they provide opportunities and support for families with children affected by autism and related neuro-developmental conditions. As someone who has worked in the charity field since 1993, at Boys & Girls Clubs, I appreciate what Madalyn and her team are doing for youth and families in need! <br> <br>Support this organization and anyone and everyone who supports youth and families!

I have contributed to Hogar Infantil for many years and even spent a month in Chiapas working on site. They provide a wonderful and powerful service to the children in need.
