Douglasville Nonprofits and Charities

I'm a high school senior trying to get my diploma. This nonprofit is making it happen for me. I don't know what I would do if they didn't step in to help me and my family. We have moved a lot and things keep changing -but Project Infinity has not changed. They care and they keep helping us. I appreciate it.

I work for Douglas Co. Fire Department on the QRV with our co-responders and have had a great opportunity to Work with Tara from the Nichols center with mental health patients in the field. Tara has always shown a professional and caring attitude. I'm look forward to having more encounters with her in the future. <br> <br>JoAnn Anderson

I use to be enrolled in this school the best school in the USA the staff is amazing the students are good in some cases they treat everybody the same and will love you like your there child the athletics are amazing this is a amazing school

My name is Pamela Royster, I have volunteered for Womb Ministries an 501c3 organization in Nashville, Tennessee for over 8 years. I am retired from the US Army after serving over 21 years. Womb Ministries is an awesome non-profit. It is ran by rev Emily and William Shropshire. I volunteered as the administrator for about 3 years, During that time it was very rewarding to me. During this time my son was incarnated. I was a single mother, helping to raise my grandchildren. I was not working due to medical problems. rev Emily supported me through this time with food, Christmas gifts for my grandkids and counseling. I decided if I couldn't physically touch my son, I would try to help someone else son or daughter who needed encouragement. I would help with teaching basic computers skills, writing resumes, mock interviews and job search for those who came by the center. Once they completed the required classes they would get certificates of completions to take to their job interviews. Womb works with those coming out of prison or jail, homeless, jobless, or anyone needing counseling for drugs or alcohol. or just someone to talk to. We give food for those who are hunger or clothing for those who need some for their family. I love giving my time but I love giving financially. Womb is so worthy of receiving the $10,000. We have an annual fundraiser call the "Hallelujah Ball. We receive support from the Titans, country singers, gospel singer, 92Q FM , 760 AM and other local businesses in Nashville. All of the monies we receive to keep Womb Ministry going is from donations. Every one, including rev Shropshire and William volunteer. We do not receive a salary. I will includes pictures of those graduating, Hallelujah Ball and classes. I am in one of the pictures with the green gown on with rev Emily. We are in partnership with the Midtown Police Precinct where we having monthly meetings there for the Edgehill Community. We adopted our 1st greyhound in the mid 90's. Fletch had just come off the track and in spite of having to work through the phase of him having the "mind of a puppy and the biology of a pony" in terms of house training, he evolved into the best dog we ever had. A few years ago we found ourselves dog-less. I found the web site of Second Chance Greyhounds on the internet and was impressed with their prison training program AND the blogs describing the individual personalities of the dogs. Even though we are retired, we had very young grandchildren and needed a dog who would be good with kids. Among other attributes listed, Rocky's blog described him as liking "little humans". He was exactly as advertised in all respects. Even though we did not live in the Atlanta area, SCG was able to find a family to do our home study and 3 years ago, Rocky came nose to nose with our toddler grandson. They have been best buds ever since. We have 5 SCG families here in western North Carolina with a 6th soon to be added to our group. It has been a great way to meet some really nice folks. Almost everyone on the street wants to pet these gentle giants. My experience is that these dogs have wonderful and gentle personalities ( don't bark, don't dig, don't wake the neighbors!) and the fact that they come completely house broken and obedience trained is a HUGE plus! The prison program is a win/win for both dogs and humans. With dogs from this program, as the commercial says- all you add is love!

The help that this organization gave us helped my daughter and her back to school needs the event was also fun and well organized.

Awesome Leadership. This is a great way to expose the youth of the city to great mentors.

I was a volunteer with CASA for 3 years. At every turn, this role required constant interaction with people from all walks of life: judges, social workers, single mothers, children in foster care or those living in shelters. I can honestly say that it was a constant privilege to help bring justice, love, and hope to children’s lives through my role as a CASA, despite the often heart-wrenching stories and frequent frustrations that come with trying to be an effective advocate in juvenile court deprivation proceedings.<br>The most important thing to understand is that in these proceedings, children are the victims and they are the only ones who do not have legal representation. Parents come with their attorneys to court. Children (in most cases) are not even allowed to be present at the hearing where their future is being decided. Someone needs to talk on their behalf and on their best interest. Casa volunteers do that, they bring the voice, desires, and hopes of the children into the court room and fight for a brighter future for them.

Very kind generous ministry! They had a good selection of food and misc items. You have to go to an orientation held Monday & Friday mornings or Thursday evening. Then you can give a donation of $10 and get 2 brown paper bags or $20 and get 4 bags. They have a Grocery isle set up. You go down the isle and fill your bag with food items (some are limited). If you do not have $ they will give you a pre-packed box of food. They also have diapers & Pull-ups if you get a bag one pack is included. It is well worth your time & money. I probably filled my 2 bags with about $75-$100 worth of food & misc. items. <br>There is also a clothing ministry there that is well organized. Clothing for all ages & gender .50 each item.

This is a wonderful christian school for K-8 students...You have great teachers...volunteers...and GOD helping your child to grow in their education and life experiences!!! Come check out the school!!!!
