I was fortunate to be able to join the Nature Connection as a volunteer and saw first hand the way it brought nature into places where people could not get outside and experience it there. It was very clear to me that when I participated in this process how welcomed the team was and how the people served benefited. <br> <br>Please support this worthy organization!

I am so proud of Robin VanLoon who has brought Camino Verde into existence. He did substantial research before beginning the organization. He has been very clever in figuring out how to work well with locals, learning from them, and finding trees that can create sustainable crops for locals to discourage the cutting down of trees. He is wholeheartedly committed to helping the rainforest through the planting of trees. He is wise beyond his years and kind hearted. He not only plants trees that will help people now, but also those that will mature long after our generation is gone from the earth. This is one of the most worthy organizations that anyone could contribute to. These trees are the lungs of the earth that benefit all of us.

Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) partnered with MCAN for many years and is now an MCAN chapter for far western Massachusetts. In the past, BEAT would bring students and volunteers to MCAN's Local Environmental Action conference. Now, we partner on getting electric generating facilities to transition from fossil fuel burning to solar/wind/storage. MCAN has been a leader in helping municipal light plant towns reduce fossil energy use and lead the effort to use building codes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Thank you, MCAN, for all you do!

I am a Thoreau Society member since 1996 from Gothenburg, Sweden. I have enjoyed the sterling publications of the Society, which come automatically with membership, ever since then: the quarterly Thoreau Society Bulletin, and the annual Concord Saunterer. The Society includes a wide range of enthusiasts, scholars, activists and literature lovers. This is also reflected in its publications, which are eclectic in the best sense. A good bunch of Thoreau Society members congregate each summer for the Annual Gathering in Concord, Massachusetts, which offers a plethora of interesting talks, discussions, happenings and guided excursions into local Thoreau country. I started coming to the AG only in 2016, but have not missed one since, despite the long journey. The Thoreau Society is friendly, dedicated, active, and especially valuable in our time of widespread environmental crisis and social strife. It speaks a word for nature, for wildness, for nurturing responsibility and simplicity in our lives.

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is of critical importance to the emotional well-being of youth. ThinkGive provides educators and students with engaging, interactive curriculum and tools to foster human connection. We know students thrive when they can engage with others, build relationships and feel supported. The ThinkGive team is dedicated to making this work accessible to all students.

Concord Prison Outreach (CPO) is a 501(c)(3) organization composed of a coalition of individuals and faith communities committed to helping people who are incarcerated build better lives for themselves and their families. Since its founding in 1968, when its first volunteers helped to support people in a local prison infirmary, CPO has developed into the largest organization of its kind in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.<br><br>CPO works cooperatively with the Massachusetts Department of Correction (DOC), offering educational programs that focus on skill-building and personal growth, essentials to help support people in prison to achieve success while incarcerated or post-incarceration. Hundreds of individuals and nearly forty faith communities join CPO in its mission to offer high-quality, transformative programs that focus on education, personal growth, and increased opportunity for incarcerated people and their families. <br><br>In the previous years, donations have allowed: <br><br>270 men learned computer skills, prepared for the GED (HiSet) exam, or worked on reading and math skills, aided by CPO tutors.<br><br>220 children enjoyed making holiday projects with their fathers, and each chose a book to take home from the many donated by people in the community.<br><br>200 people benefited from emotional literacy classes.165 men from both prisons explored better ways to and communicate with their children in Fathers’ Groups.<br><br>24 men read aloud a children’s book on video to be sent home to their child–a way to be “present” although far away.<br><br>115 men had the opportunity to read and discuss works of literature and spiritual healing in small book groups.<br><br>100 men worked on Job Search Skills, self awareness, and Music Theory, among other programs, at NECC.<br><br>60 men created cards and other artwork in the art program at NECC.<br><br>30 men learned horticultural skills, planted and maintained gardens, both flower and vegetable, in both Concord prisons.<br><br>1,000 men received a gift bag of stationary and toiletries personally given to him by a CPO volunteer.<br><br>Your donation is appreciated. <br>Thank you!<br><br>https://www.concordprisonoutreach.org/donate/

OARS does tremendous work in protecting and restoring the Assabet River and now the Sudbury and Concord too. Using science and advocacy to protect an clean up a river that has been badly abused over the years, but which is still a very special and beautiful place.

I work for The Oak Crest Institute of Science, a non-profit chemistry research lab and mentoring facility in Pasadena. Like most non-profits, we have a lot of work to get done and not enough staff or volunteers to accomplish all our goals. When I met Jericho Road Project Pasadena's Executive Director, Melanie Goodyear, in late 2010; I was thrilled to learn about the incredible services Jericho Road provides in matching skilled, dedicated volunteers with local non-profits. I first requested a volunteer in early 2011 as I prepared to hold a big event to introduce Oak Crest to the community more widely. From the early planning stages through the evening itself, Melanie and her volunteers were incredible resources of knowledge and energy that propelled us to meet our goals. It was a huge relief to have someone to ask questions or advice of throughout the process. Now I've been tasked with updating the navigation style of our website and knew who to call. Melanie has done it again - matching me with an excellent web designer with the skills and interest in helping Oak Crest succeed. The process is well-designed so that we and the volunteer have clear goals and measurable objectives. Everyone goes into the project knowing what to expect and how to accomplish what we want done. Jericho Road provides an invaluable service to local non-profits and creates meaningful volunteering opportunities that are respectful of her volunteers' time. Thanks, Jericho Road!!!

I have been volunteering for Esperanza - Hope For The Children, Inc. since it was established in 2006. Esperanza's work in Honduras has had a significant impact in the lives of countless Honduran children as well as my own. Esperanza's goal is to improve the educational and medical opportunities of the children of Honduras. This has involved donation of school supplies, paying for tuition, running medical clinics, as well as finding American hospitals to preform necessary surgeries. <br> <br>I have not only been able to travel to Flores, Honduras 4 different times but also have had nearly two dozen Honduran children stay at my house. It is without a doubt that I can say that Esperanza - Hope For The Children has saved the lives of a number of Honduran children, including Noel who has become my godson.
