Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation (GWPF) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization established in 2010 on the principles of ending violence and injustices against women and girls. Their mission is to empower women and girls through education to help end gender-based violence, especially female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C). FGM/C is the intentional removal of all or part of the external female genitalia for non-medical reasons. Through education and advocacy, they work to prevent FGM/C and provide services to help girls and women who have experienced FGM/C or are at risk of experiencing it. GWPF was partly responsible for the passing of legislation in Virginia to have FGM/C criminalized and an education mandate that all Virginia middle and high schools include the study of FGM/C in their Family Life Education curriculum. They run a monthly support group, which provides both physical and psychological support to survivors of FGM/C. They also sponsor the clitoral restorative surgery for women in their support group who desire it. Internationally, they provide scholarships for girls and boys in Liberia, West Africa, providing a choice between education and FGM/C. They also supply girls in 4 West African countries (Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, & Guinea) with sanitary pads as a mean to keep girls from missing school each month during their periods. They engage in training schoolteachers, school nurses, law enforcement, and the community about the practice of FGM/C. They hold the "Walk to End FGM" annually in the fall to raise funds to support their programs.<br><br><br>

Very disappointed VGSR denied our application to rescue a dog from them. They denied application because our current pup Jet, newly 2/rescued at 15 months, is not currently neutered. Since they spay/neuter their dogs before adoption (arguably prematurely), this is not about preventing unwanted pregnancies. This is about their rigid opposition to any dog not being “fixed” on their timetable. this denies gsd rescues the chance to live excellent lives in homes welcoming them fully. Jet is our 9th beloved gsd, he/we want a companion, the closed minds of this group speaks more to their unexamined “principles” than to a dogs best life. shame on them.

Pam Draper and her organization do wonderful work for community cats and the people in those communities. She cares about every cat that crosses her path and has done so much to help the lives of felines and help them coexist with the humans in communities with her work in TNR. She has been doing it for 28 years and really cares about helping animals. She works with local vets to make sure the cats are getting the best care that they can and then returns them to the communities to live a better life for both them and the humans in those communities.

Animal Angel Aid did a marvelous job fostering two cats that we adopted in May 2022. They were very accommodating of our adoption timeline, and responsive in communication. The cats were exceptionally well cared for, and perfectly socialized. They adapted quickly to our home and really got along well with our older cat. Overall, our experience adopting two cats from Animal Angel Aid was phenomenal and we recommend them highly to everyone.

The Brain Foundation truly does amazing work - on a shoestring budget and with 100% volunteer labor they manage to be the lifeline and safety net for those who need it most.

This is a wonderful nonprofit that helps the immigrant and low income community. It is a unified place with a sense of community and inclusion. Happy to have been introduced to CIF and the Centreville Labor Resource Center.

Educating the youth of America is crucial if America is to maintain its position as a leader of the free world. An organization, such as, ITS TIME continue to play a critical role in educating inner city and disadvantaged youth. In this middle school environment, disadvantaged youth are given the opportunity to develop skills that are pivotal in the development of their full potential.

Since I first learned of the work of this organization, I have been amazed by its level of contribution given its size. Virtually every penny contributed goes directly to the mission. They vitality and energy of its founder, Lois Lyons, radiates throughout every activity. In speaking with their clients it immediately comes through what a lasting difference T2R made in their lives.
