My Nonprofit Reviews
Joanna B.
Review for Interfaith Caring Ministries, League City, TX, USA
I started out as a volunteer at ICM in 1988 in the food pantry and later moved to interviewing clients. ICM serves a need that is met nowhere else in our community. The food assistance is the least of what ICM does and yet it makes a major difference in the lives of clients. The Christmas store, medication assistance and more make the lives of the working poor in our area better.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
seeing a client I had interviewed learn enough English to become a waitress at a local restaurant and today she manages a shift at that restaurant. Her children have attended the local community college and are now productive members of society.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
get it more publicity about the good things it does in the community.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
Gave me a way to meet people in the community who are still friends
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
I got much more personal satisfaction out of this volunteer job than any other I have done and I have done lots. I saw the difference that a bag of groceries made in a life.
