Review for Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions, San Francisco, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Back in 2008 , I found a King Pigeon that had been hanging out in a local bar. I offered to help find it a home. I thought this BIG white bird was a sea bird and uncovered it was a King pigeon. That is how I found Palomacy! Palomacy was full, but gave me the support to care for the pigeon I called Dovee. After 1 year of trying to find Dovee a home, someone asked me if he was adoptable and I said, " no". I since not only adopted the pigeon I found but have become a volunteer and foster birds and contribute to the rescue in anyway I can. Palomacy not only helps pigeons, but it helps the pigeons people, pigeons globally around the USA and beyond and has also educated the public and local shelters. It is an amazing community and all donations go 100% to the work.

MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue is a well organized volunteer driven rescue group that have saved hundred of highly overlooked pigeons and doves from euthanasia at Bay Area shelters since 2007. I first experienced the compassion of this group back in October 2008 when I found a lost King Pigeon. I knew nothing about birds and was even afraid to touch the King Pigeon I found. I knew I wanted to help save the bird I found, so I contacted Elizabeth Young the founder of MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue. Although the foster capacity was full, MickaCoo agreed to support me to foster the bird until they could find it a home. I quickly was given lessons on how to care for pigeons and became a foster home. Since I knew nothing about birds, the support I received was endless. I started to volunteer at adoption events and in the year to follow I started to recognize the need to help these homeless birds. I was so impressed and amazed by the MickaCoo, I became a volunteer. I saw how wonderful, smart and loving pigeons could be as pets. Later in 2009, I built a larger aviary and increased my foster population and even adopted six pigeons as my own pets. With each year I became more dedicated to also helping pigeons and have become an active volunteer and part of the advisory committee. The work that MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue is doing is saving the lives of 100’s of birds and have developed a wonderful compassionate community. Volunteers gather from all over the area to help adopters build back yard aviaries to provide homes for rescued Pigeons and Doves. MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue joins forces with Local Shelters, the SPCA and even with the S.F. Exploritorium to help educate and put pigeons on the map. This community that has grown to the hundreds over the past three years. It is an amazing group of people and organization which I am proud to be a part of.

Hi! My name is Cheryl Dickinson and I heard of MickaCoo when I found a King Pigeon back in 2008 called Dovee. I spent a year trying to find him a home and In that year I was so touched by the work Elizabeth Young and MickaBoo was doing, I got more involved. I am now an active volunteer and Foster home for The Pigeon and Dove division. It is such a Joy, honor and blessing to be a part of such an amazing and compassionate group of people! It is also an honor to be able to help so many pigeons. It brings a lot of joy to me and I know these innocents appreciate us or they may not have survived!

Thank you! MickaBoo and Coo!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have witnessed and experiences multiple counts of compassionate people helping innocent birds!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would love to see more advertisement on public education on bird care.

Role:  Volunteer & I found a King Pigeon and became enchanted with rescue!.
