My Nonprofit Reviews

Ashley Faye
Review for T E N Charities (a.k.a. Her Future Coalition), St Augustine, FL, USA
I have been involved with TEN for over five years. I began by fundraising and coordinating educational events in Arizona, and after I volunteered with the organization in India, I really felt called to take a more direct role. I am currently working to expand TEN's efforts in rural India- more can be found at www.saktiprogram.blogspot.com. TEN has definitely changed my life for the better, and I know countless volunteers, survivors and at risk women feel the same. I have personally met some of the girls TEN has worked with, and it is amazing to see how empowered and self-sufficient they have become.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
countless ways. I have visited TEN's program sites in India and worked with the survivors TEN assists to become self-sufficient. I have seen the products the girls make, but most importantly how confident the girls have become.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
increase the budget. :) I have seen TEN make the most of every dollar donated and i know that with increased funding and more staff TEN could expand its work to other places and other women in need.

I really can't think of anything!
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
Absolutely! It helped me to confirm that international aid work, and specifically reducing human trafficking through economic development, is how I want to dedicate my life. Through working with TEN I have gained skills in fundraising, grant-writing, public speaking and program development. I have also formed positive relationships with TEN volunteers and staff.
