I've had the opportunity to volunteer at Matthew 25 Ministries several times over the years and have always been so amazed at all they do to help people in need. I was fortunate enough to work for a company that gave us time off for community service projects. And once a year they organized a service day for everyone and teams of people got to work with various organizations around the city. I chose Matthew 25 Mininstries once and kept going back.

What surprised me is all of the kinds of items they bring in from donations and are able to use to provide help and aid to people in need around the world. Unused latex paint, empty pill bottles, adult diapers, medical supplies, household supplies, baby items, school supplies, and of course food, clothing and personal care items. It must take hundreds of volunteers and man-hours to sort through all that they are able to take in and redistribute. I loved being able to help in some small way.

I was also able to get my son involved and take him with me more than a few times. We sorted clothing and jewelry, personal care supplies, and adult diapers the few times we went together. I helped sort medical supplies and worked in the recycled paint area one day as well. Whatever you think you don't need, they find a use for it I am sure. And how many people they are helping around the world, people in poverty or affected by natural disasters and other situations. An amazing organization doing amazing things!!!
