I had the opportunity to spend an amazing week on a trip with The Tipi Raisers. It was a week of personal growth and introspection as I worked along side a multigenerational group of volunteers, most of whom I had never met before, yet when we parted they all felt like friends. We served and got to meet many Hopi and Navajo people with incredible stories to tell and perspectives to share. The most challenging part of the experience for me was the accommodations because I am not a roughing it kind of a person. However, the accommodations are a part of the experience when you take a step back and think about how so many of the people we were there to learn from and serve live in similar or worse conditions every single day. Overall, Dave and Mackenzie do an amazing job creating a meaningful experience for all. They are humble, caring people who give so much and wisely use every penny of the donations they receive.
