Ever since discovering the Water Project on Charity Navigator, I have been blown away by my
experience of the people and projects involved in the Water Project. The need for clean reliable
sources of water in rural communities in Kenya is nothing new to me. I was born in Kenya and
as a teenager in the 1960’s I would occasionally join my father, a physician, on his monthly
visits into the countryside where he would hold rural clinics. I witnessed first-hand the struggles
people faced with water-borne diseases. One of the most common health issues was chronic
dysentery. Lack of access to clean water and limited knowledge of sound sanitary practices
made this disease a part of life. Sadly not much has changed over the years.

Then along came the Water Project with a vision to battle these conditions and bring clean
water and hygiene education to these often remote villages and schools. I have noted their
competence in water source design and execution and, importantly, ongoing maintenance.
The Water Project also provides information on each specific project on an easy-to-navigate
website, with progress reports and plenty of visibility and transparency. They follow up with
personal impact reports from time to time. Every encounter with their staff has been warm and
welcoming.

It is with great sense of pride that I am able to make a humble contribution to this excellent
organization, both monthly in support of their commitment to maintaining their wells and other
water sources, and also to further the funding of specific projects.
