In June of 2024 our elderly neighbor unexpectedly passed away leaving her husband, family, and the neighbors completely heartbroken and in shock. In addition to this great loss, our neighbor had left behind her horse. The family did not have the capacity to care for him.
A group of neighbors quickly came together and identified that the horse required medical attention as well as rehoming. We worked to identify all options, including contacting Serenity Equine Rescue.
Patricia was absolutely amazing. She did a site visit and within a day had a plan in place to give this amazing horse a fighting chance. The family was so thankful to know that their beloved family member’s pet would receive the care and soft landing he deserved.
Through the amazing network that Patricia has worked so hard to cultivate for the horses, a transport was set up for the horse to be relocated to Serenity and receive immediate medical attention.
Since his arrival at the rescue, the horse has made outstanding progress. He has put on weight, had regular as well as critical medical care and is no longer a lone horse left alone in his stall. He is well loved and cared for.
This is the best outcome from a tragic event the family and neighbors could have hoped for. We are eternally grateful that this horse can live out his days in comfort after the loss of his owner. All of it was possible thanks to Patricia, the amazing volunteers and the tireless work of Serenity Equine Rescue.
