The connection I made with this whole farm is indescribable. I met “Babe” who I felt an immediate connection with and she trusted me immediately. These giant animals are so trusting and willing to connect with complete strangers and have the ability to bond, connect and heal with us women Veterans. They can show us all how to truly show unconditional love to all other human beings, animals and even the “invisible soldier” aka woman veteran. Thank you for the life changing experience and I hope to come and visit soon!! Hopefully with my family!!
I am a new volunteer have been working with the horses for a little over a month. I have no horse experience and the other staff and volunteers really helped me and welcomed me into the family. After just one week I became more confident with the houses. I absolutely love being here.
My daughter Allie and I absolutely love Serenity. My daughter is 15 and a wonderful artist but it was time to get her outside of the house and have her connect with nature other than her tablet. We are both animal lovers and adore the chance to see and love these beautiful creatures. This place is so very important and valuable both to these beautiful creatures and ourselves. With strong anxiety issues that Allie has, what these magnificent beauties have done for her is truly amazing. She is coming out of her shell, finding new friends in them as if they are coming up to her saying " Its's going to be ok we feel you". In turn we are there to help give them whatever they need.
Serenity is an absolute God Send and I truly don't know where we would be without them!!!
Serenity has a wonderful mission and service, providing a healthy and healing home to once abused and neglected horses. The staff and volunteers are deeply caring for the animals and one another. Volunteering at Serenity is meaningful and enjoyable.
I’m so glad that I finally made a decision to send a request for volunteering @ Serenity...
Patricia is a godsend from above, the beauty to see all the horses here prosper and grow in harmony is unexplainable...
The only way to understand the beauty is to be a part of Serenity!
I finally found my silent place, a place that feels like home...
Not only is it a place where we as humans help rehabilitate the horses, they truly are therapeutic to us as well... They give me another purpose to look forward to and grow...
Thank you So much Patricia for everything you do!
I began working at Serenity to learn about the care and rehab process of a rescue horse. I have learned soooo much through Patricia and am in awe when I see her and our trainer working with the horses. Every horse and human to step foot on the property lifes are changed forever, in the most healing and positive way possible!
This is a wonderful place of healing, for the horses and for those of us who have the chance to volunteer here. Every time I come I look at those majestic animals and am so grateful that they have a place that the can just be. No expectation, just become whole, heal, be loved and give all those things back to us if we open ourselves to what Patricia has fostered.
Volunteering at Serenity is the most rewarding experience. Every week Im there I learn so much from the horses. They are in a safe haven here. The director, Patricia Clark is so passionate about giving these horses the best care, healing, and love humanly possible. I learn something new from Patricia every time I am there. I wouldn't want to spend my time anywhere else.
I started volunteering at Serenity two years ago. I had been looking for a new volunteer opportunity. Although I live in Seattle, the drive is worth it. For as much as I give to the horses, they give back to me ten fold. Volunteering at Serenity is my therapy, and I feel honored to work with director Patricia Clark and the many volunteers that I now consider friends.
In the fall of 2018, I found myself in hard times with my four horses. Awaiting Social Security to make a decision, left me to watch my horses losing weight and their health on the down slide. I was considering re-homing them, with the fear they would end up on a feed truck and they have already been through enough in this life. While surfing around to find a way to safely re-home them, I came across Serenity.... I noticed a little link in the website, that mentioned help for those having hard times... I emailed a letter and sent it off with prayer.
Patricia herself responded. She took time out of her schedule to come and give my horses a wellness check, helped me with a diet program for each of them. Set up and paid the vet bill for my thinnest horse to have her teeth done, which was a big part of her weight loss, and something I just couldn't afford at the time.
Patricia followed up with sponsoring my horses for a couple months in hay and grains as well as supplements...
I was invited out to Serenity and I must say, I dream of my horse rescues having such a fine place to retire. The knowledge and information Patricia gave me was worth a million bucks, to help me as a better horse mum.
Thanks to Serenity, I have been able to keep my horses, their health has returned and no one is losing weight. I feel like a better parent, and I look forward to the classes offered at Serenity...
Four horses and their mum were saved in this story.
I can't say enough,
Truly a GREAT non profit! Worth every penny
"Normandy" is a Percheron/thoroughbred cross acquired as a Premarin pony from Canada. My lovely wife Sarah rescued two of the chaps as foals and raised and trained them as dressage ponies. It is a complete misnomer to call them ponies because they both filled out to be quite impressive ridding horses weighing in at ~2000 lb and 18 hands which did not indicate anything about their extremely gentle dispositions. A few years ago one of the fellows ("Lars") succumbed to a severe intestinal blockage and, to my wife's complete sadness, had to be put down. That left Norm who was chartered to carry on the horse tradition here at Stone Road Farms. Recently Sarah was diagnosed with Non Alzheimer's Dementia and the care of Normandy fell upon myself as well as that of Sarah. The effort and responsibility for me to care for both Sarah and Normandy became unsustainable and is where the fine and able care advice and confidence routine of Serenity Equine Rescue came into our lives. Patricia Clark is a most experienced, generous and notable leader of the organization and her tireless effort to help care for Normandy and secure a new home for him was limitless. Norm now lives on a comfortable ranch near Grangeville, Idaho and is quite a happy pony.
Serenity provides a wonderful, positive, and healthy environment for horses to be rehabilitated and/or adopted. All the horses who live at Serenity are treated with the utmost respect and care, and it is reflected in the horses' behavior. I've never met gentle, friendly horses, and I know that their behavior is a direct result of the trust that Patricia and her volunteers have built with the horses—trust built through patience, kindness, and care. I would highly recommend volunteering or donating to this noble cause.
Serenity is a beautiful haven for horses that experienced cruelty in their lives. It is a peaceful sanctuary for both animals and people to heal and to love. A recent story of a cat viciously attacked, hanging on for his life, found his way to Serenity and leapt into the arms of the owner, as if he too knew it is where he will be saved and protected. Saved by a wonderful human with nothing but love to give to animals. This is what she does for the horses fortunate to be rescued and be in her care.
Serenity is where extraordinary people and horses come together. Leaders of Serenity teach us humanity exists. They share themselves selflessly to volunteers, horses, (1pig), and all those who make this place a possibility. I am grateful to be a part of this amazing possibility!
In 2017, I needed a different connection with my mom and her love of horses. I searched and found Serenity. The name says it all – as I drove into the beautiful setting I knew I had found it.
I come from the corporate world and I was longing for tasks that I could accomplish every day, knowing their true value, and leaving knowing that I made a difference. I wanted a connection with horses and I was so happy to learn that the owner of the ranch, Patricia, runs the ranch with the focus on the horses. Everything that is done at the ranch centers on the health and healing of the horses. The connection that you can have with these beautiful animals is amazing and in turn you get healed.
I have volunteered now for almost 2 years and I have learned so much; how horses should be treated and cared for, what it takes to maintain the facility to support horses, and the commitment when owning a horse or any animal for that matter.
I recommend Serenity for many reasons: great place to learn about horses, to heal, to get fresh air, to get exercise and love.
Please consider becoming a Sponsor, sign up for monthly donations, or volunteer.
I've been a volunteer since early 2018... and this has been a great learning experience. I came to the barn just wanting to be around horses... I feel like with the service I do on a weekly basis, mucking stalls on Wednesday mornings, and in getting to know each horse and mini...my core and confidence is stronger. I've learned a lot about them... and about myself.
It feels good to be there. Plus, even the pig and dog on site are rescues. Super sweet. Work is good, volunteers are needed... and I just get to be there, and learn to better be around horses.
I have adopted two horses from Serenity Equine Rescue now. Ruby a Thoroughbred mare 7 years ago and more recently Lightening a Polish Arab gelding when I was able to move Ruby to the property we had just purchased. Now that she is not in a boarding stables we wanted a pasture mate for her and a horse for my husband and daughter to ride. Patricia listened to exactly what I was looking for and showed me the horses that she thought would be a good fit for us. In addition she took many hours of her time to come help us fix up our barn so as to be safe and functional. She didn't just give advise she was very hands on getting it done so we would be ready when the horses started using the barn. Patricia's love for horses and people and matching them up well is very apparent in all her actions. I am so glad that I chose Serenity to find my forever friends.
I've had the privilege of volunteering at Serenity for over a year now and am so proud/thankful for the work that this nonprofit does. We have horses with a variety of background stories and through the expertise of the rescue's founder and director, Patricia, they are rehabilitated. I've been able to witness first hand the transitions that these horses take based on the care and love, as well as training poured into them. Serenity is full of loving volunteers and truly makes a difference in the world by taking care of vulnerable animals and providing them a safe and caring space to thrive.
Serenity Equine is a hidden gem and wonderful, well kept farm for horses that have been neglected or abused. Each horse that comes to Serenity is loved and cared for with the upmost respect for the horse. The barn and paddock area are cleaned every day by dedicated, hard working volunteers in two different shifts.
The owner of the farm has incredible horse knowledge and is the voice for these animals. Her program not only rehabilitates horses, but she helps find forever homes for those that can be adopted. You could not find a better animal rescue program to support and donate to or even volunteer.
I have been to many rescues and voluntered and worked throughout the US and found Serenity to truly be the most exceptional rescue. The care and attention to each horse for aiding in their full recovery before adoption is most impressive. The horses are not a number to be churned out and adopted in a hurry which is very rare in the world of rescues. I give this rescue the highest rating and hope others discover this gem in Maple Valley Washington whether to donate funds or volunteer.
The moment I got there I knew this place was filled with love. The place is just as gorgeous as the horses and the staff are amazing. Kristen is such an inspiriation and the owner, Patricia greeted us personally and welcomed us with open arms. The stables are well kept and the horses are filled with love and personality. It’s the perfect place for any person or animal that’s in need of a santuary and/or a place of tranquility. Coming here was very empowering to me and woke up a genuine interest for horses. Thank you Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation for everything.
My group visited as part of Wounded Warrior Project. I had not imagined the impact that visiting Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation would have on my soul. I left there with what felt like a ton lifted off of me. The experience opened gates that had been closed for years and shut doors where I needed some closure. The staff are gentle, warm, and professional.
Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation (SERR) is the most well kept and caring Equine facility that I have ever seen, and I am a very particular person. The horses at SERR are all treated as if they were special. They are given the best of care with individual dietary and medical needs tailor made for each animal - no matter the cost. All the equine residents get lots of love and attention. And all receive expert training and rehabilitation from a well qualified Equine expert.
I have been lucky to volunteer at SERR for about 2 years. I started on the clean up crew, then moved to horse handler, and now am groomer. I groom all the horses, and feel very fortunate to be part of their lives. I love them to bits, and from all their contented sighs and reciprocated grooming, I think they love me too. They give me much more than I could possibly give them. Even though these animals have gone through hardships that most people could not endure, these beautiful creatures are still full of forgiveness and bottomless love. If only humans could be as gracious as the horse. Life could not get better than being able to share time with SERR's residents. Hugs and thank you to equines everywhere. PM
This place was amazing, beautiful and serene. I really enjoyed bonding with all the horses and meeting Patricia. I would definitely recommend this place to others who are in need of any form of healing. If I get a chance once I'm better I'm going to volunteer there.
Thank you so much Misty. We are honored that you chose to come to Serenity and look forward to seeing you again.
As a life long horse owner and lover, I made the spontainious decision to rescue a feedlot horse without doing my research on what it could mean financially. My heart was broken seeing all these beautiful animals who were being sent to die. There was one horse that caught my eye and I figured he was so inexpensive that even a vet check and a little treatment couldn't be THAT expensive, right?! Boy was I wrong. After our initial vet check and positive strangles test I realized I was in over my head, that was when I wrote a tearful email to Patricia at Serenity. I told her how ashamed I was of myself for getting into this position and all but begged her to help my beautiful rescue boy. She said that if I was willing to keep him and give him the loving him he deserved that she could help us. It was the first time in days that I felt I could breathe again, she is truly and angel here on earth and I can not begin to express in words how greatful I was and am for her help. She came out to our property, met our horse and gave me lots of advice for helping our guy begin to recover. She never once treated me like the fool I was, she was never judgmental, didn't lecture me for being so irresponsible - she simply was there to help. This non profit is doing amazing, wonderful things for people and animals and they deserve all the support they can get!! I hope one day to return the gift I have been given! ❤️
Serenity has been a great place to volunteer. I have been volunteering there several years. I enjoy meeting and working with the new friends I have met there. Learning about the horses, seeing them come in sick and neglected, then watching as they recover and thrive has been amazing to witness.
I've brought my grandkids to Serenity for a year and a half now to volunteer. They've learned so much about horses and most importantly they've learned that volunteering is hard work but very rewarding.
This organization is absolutely wonderful. These rescues are treated with the utmost
kindness and respect. They are fed on time everyday and their paddocks, pastures and barn
are cleaned everyday and kept immaculate. Patricia Clark, the owner, is an amazing and dedicated person who always puts these horses welfare first. She offers many classes for the volunteers so we are well trained in every task we perform. I am so honored to be part of this wonderful organization and all the incredible work they do to rescue and rehabilitate these beautiful animals. When a horse is ready to find a forever home, Patricia is extremely careful and particular about the adoption, and if something goes wrong at the new home it is in the contract that the horse will come back to Serenity.
Serenity Equine Rescue is truly that, a place of serenity. I have been privileged to volunteer here for the last 8 months and it has been a most incredible and powerful experience. The horses that come here have had many different and often traumatic experiences. They are met with so much love, caring, and positive energy, and it is amazing to watch them heal and flourish. I am constantly learning from them, and from our number one horse mama, Patricia Clark. She is a superhero in a 5 foot frame. The care, hard work, boundless love and energy that she puts in to every aspect of Serenity shows. It is so therapeutic to be in the presence of these fantastic creatures-the volunteers put their heart into this place and it shows. Please consider donating, volunteering, or just coming to an Open House to check it out and share the love!!
I have loved every minute of volunteering with Serenity. The farm really earns its name with an overwhelming sense of calm and consistency to the place, off of which the horses just thrive! Patricia is amazing with each and every horse, and the care she takes with them (which she passes on to the volunteers) has kept each horse happy and healthy. I only wish I could volunteer more!
I strongly recommend this rescue to all of my friends and family who are interested in volunteering their time to a greater cause!
This is a very special place with beautifully cared for rescue horses. I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate my time here with the horses.
Patricia helped us with an aboandoned piglet we found roaming the streets near our home. She gave her a loving, safe home. She was AMAZING when she came to visit our little abandoned piglet. I have never seen anyone speak to a piglet and make her feel so loved at an initial meeting. Patricia literally had her eating out of the palm of her hand and snuggling with her from the get go. She is a veritable pig whisperer. I can only imagine how wonderfully her horses take to her.
Patricia truly cares for everyone of the horses on the farm, and is always putting their health and safety first. I am grateful that this rescue exists.
Volunteering here is rewarding in a number of ways. Not only do I have the opportunity to build friendships with other amazing volunteers, but I also have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of the horses. The horses, some of whom have come from some very hard pasts, show unconditional love and kindness to the volunteers and they make the experience truly worth the while.
Four years ago I adopted Braveheart and Prada from Serenity. It absolutely changed my life and opened my eyes. I've been following Serenity ever since and am so thankful there is an organization like this out there and people like Patricia. Serenity is truly the voice for these horses.
I began volunteering at Serenity Rescue a couple months ago and have found it to be an absolutely amazing facility. The horses are treated with exceptional love and care. Their stalls and paddocks are cleaned daily and every horse is monitored individually to meet their special dietary and veterinary needs. They learn to trust again and thrive with the loving attention they receive everyday. I am very proud to be a part of this non-profit organization and would encourage anyone who loves horses to consider volunteering or donating to this incredible cause!
