My close friends and coworkers never wanted to understand HAE. My job wanted to make it so uncomfortable to force me to quit because I needed to use FMLA. My in-laws complained I was in "bed all day" or "didn't work." Noone understands illnesses they can't see, ESPECIALLY if it is an illness rare in the US. They don't understand how expensive the meds are or why the FDA rules make it difficult for more meds to be available. They cannot SEE your pain so they don't even TRY to understand it. Accessia Health and the workers are support for people like me that struggle thru this fight. Many of us want to stay alive and be role models living a good life while we are diagnosed. The world as it is has made it difficult, but people that dedicate their careers to working at places like Accessia CHANGE LIVES and give us opportunities others don't care if we have access to. This nonprofit is always caring, reliable, and provides resources for so many.
