Thanks Mom & Dad Fund (TM&DF) has been such a blessing to the Aging Provider network in the Coastal Area. Early in the Pandemic they reached out to all the Area Agencies on Aging in the state and asked what they could do to help our service providers. It was still early days in the pandemic and the demand for PPE had far exceeded local supplies. Thanks Mom and Dad Fund came through for us and provided a large supply of Masks and hand sanitizer for each AAA in Georgia, which we were able to distribute to our service providers in the community. Because of this we were able to transport individuals to services, serve individuals in their homes, have limited senior center opening with social distancing, and much more. All of this in a time when PPE was difficult to find and expensive to buy.
In the period following the national public health emergency, TM&DF partnered with Georgia Health Policy Center for the collection of data and reporting for successful practices put in place by providers statewide in response to the pandemic. This Reimagining Post-Pandemic Planning document was made available to Aging Networks statewide for post-pandemic program development.
In recent years, TM&DF has awarded annual grants to senior centers for the purposes of Innovating and Modernizing their programs. Proposals by our Senior Centers included technology purchases, exercise equipment, foreign language courses, raised bed gardening systems, and educational trips.
For at least the last 4 years, TM&DF has partnered with Emory University and AAAs statewide for the development and implementation of Evidence Based health and wellness programs and workshops for Elderly and Disabled individuals. This partnership resulted in incentives to the aging network to grow and expand existing offerings, including online or virtual options, and the creation of a statewide website through which participants could register for specific EBP programs. These programs addressed the needs of seniors in areas like self-managing disease and health issues, falls prevention, and personal safety.
Thanks, Mom & Dad Fund is not just a charitable donor. They are partners. They stay involved with the Aging Provider Network such that they know and understand our needs and our pain points.
