Serving on the Board of Trustees for the Presbyterian Home for Children for the past six years has been one of the most rewarding positions I have ever held. I serve on the Programs Committee and can tell of each program, its goals, and the successes they have achieved. During my service on the Board, I have also learned of the many great needs in Alabama and the Southeast and am grateful for what the Home in all its history has been able to provide. I have learned of the Home’s calling and direction to provide the stable and productive lives that so many lack and crave. The strength of the programs grows with our ever-changing culture. The Home provides a safe and secure place for homeless children and their mothers as well as hope and healing that lead to stories of changed lives for the future. Young women in the Transition to Adult Living have the guidance in education and careers at a time in their lives that launch them into self-reliance and success. Our Family Bridges provides care and guidelines to restore and maintain families when possible. Ascension Leadership Academy is an outstanding school with accolades for student success, teacher performance, and administrative excellence. My heart lives at the Home, and the Home lives in my heart.
