My daughter had her first seizure at 2 years old. At least it was the first that I noticed. She suddenly fell asleep and woke up with her left side eye and mouth twitching and excessive drool. After about two minutes she came to and got sick. That was very concerning to me, so I took her to the ER. Where they said they believed it was a seizure and had me follow up with her pediatrician. Fast forward four years later and we've found out she has a genetic mutation that causes developmental delays and epilepsy. Her seizures are still uncontrolled completely by medication and we have started the process to see if she can have epilepsy surgery. The Chelsea Hutchinson foundation helped our family get the SAMi system and we are forever grateful!!!
