Review for Florida's Unique Education Learning Support, ST PETERSBURG, FL, USA
After almost 20 years in education, I left the classroom 5 years ago. During that time we welcomed the arrival of our youngest child, and to make room, all of my teacher things had to go. This past year was called back to teaching, as some of us are. I was already nervous because I knew I couldn’t be the teacher I used to be now that I am a mother. Then came the money concerns. Coming into a new classroom in a new school with none of my things was overwhelming. Then I learned about FUELS. I filled out a request for funding form, and to my surprise I had most of my wishlist filled for my beginning of the year materials! I was beyond excited and relieved. THEN, I got two (behavior) students transferred into my class from another classroom, and was able to fill out an emergency assistance form for fidgets, sensory items, alternative seating, weighted vests, chew necklaces, and a weighted lap blanket. It completely saved my sanity. ALL free and from this amazing non profit company run by the most amazing, caring advocate for public education, Melissa Ley.
