After the heartbreaking loss of our shelter rescue of 13 years in 2021, I wasn’t even sure I was ready for another dog. I looked for a few weeks and even applied for information on a few with little enthusiasm. Then one day I saw an adorable 6 month old listed with OPH. They already had my information on file, so my adoption request was approved that day. His foster was out of town, but a few days later we finally connected and he couldn’t say enough good things about King Derwin. When I was finally able to meet him I was greeted with an enthusiastic friendliness that seemed to say ‘I know you’re going to be my forever mom.’
It’s been 2 1/2 years since we brought him home, and the joy he’s brought into our lives is indescribable.
From transport to foster to forever home, the dedication and professionalism of the OPH volunteers is incredible.
