Review for MusicLink Foundation, Arlington, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I write this letter with tears of gratitude to the MusicLink Foundation. There's an African proverb which states, "It takes a village to raise a child." The MusicLink Foundation has been a very supportive village to my friend Zoe Chris and his family. Four years ago, we requested the help of the MusicLink Foundation to teach my friend Zoe Chris how to play the piano, so that he'd be able to serve as a pianist in his small French-language congregation in Hyattsville, MD of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as the congregation doesn't have a regular pianist. After a couple of years of rough starts and stops, and ALL of the hard work of the MusicLink Foundation "village of support," my friend, Zoe Chris debuted in church on Sunday, January 28th, a medley that he put together of a church hymn and a song that he's been working on. Zoe is now ready to start playing hymns for the congregation. We are all very proud of him and grateful for the hours that each of the MusicLink Foundation volunteers (in their various roles) spent in getting my friend Zoe Chris to this point. MusicLink has been there every step of the way: from making sure that Zoe Chris had piano teachers, sending him his first keyboard, and the foundation donated Zoe Chris an upright piano which was donated from a family. To the MusicLink Foundation program with Joanne Haroutounian at the helm, along with ALL of the wonderful teachers, coordinators, and volunteers, who are involved in helping kids who otherwise would NOT have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument -- a HUGE thank you. May God continue to bless ALL of you for all of your hard work with kids in communities that need the beauty and joy that LIVE music brings to our hearts and souls. Please enjoy our friend Zoe Chris's church debut: a medley of the Latter-day Saint hymn "I am A Child of God" and Yiruma's very popular "River Flows in You" -- complete with a few bits of his personality.
