I was diagnosed with AML (acute myelogenous leukemia) in 2015 and relapse in 2017. After a bone marrow transplant in 2018, I experienced host vs graft disease which is controlled with the drug ruxolitinib. Ruxolitinib costs $18,000 per month. When I learned this, I was devastated because it was completely unaffordable. Fortunately, the financial assistance coordinator at Allegheny Health Network assisted me to apply for a grant from PAN. PAN covers the cost of ruxolitinib for me and allows me to live a fairly healthy life. Without PAN, I probably wouldn’t be writing this story.
