Review for Animal Protection Society Of Durham, Durham, NC, USA

Rating: 1 stars

TLDR: Don't bring animals here unless you want them to be killed. They have a better chance on the street.

Animal "Protection" Society is the most ironic name for this place. They do not protect animals. My partner found the sweetest pup at the park. The poor dog was emaciated, but was still friendly to both him and my dog. This dog was obviously owned by someone before because he was house and crate trained, as well as neutered. We took him there to get him checked for a chip and let them use their resources to help find the previous owner. We left our info and said that if no one came forward that we would like to adopt him. My partner called after that weekend. He was spoken to rudely and told that they would call us when the dog was ready. We hadn't heard anything for weeks, so he called again today just to find out that they put him down. They didn't tell us or try to contact us to save him. They claimed he was barking and aggressive. When you have been starving and alone on the streets and then suddenly in a loud noisy building with strangers, how do you think a scared animal may react? Oh, also they still have his picture on the website even though they've already killed him.
