Review for For Pete's Sake Cancer Respite Foundation, Plymouth Meeting, PA, USA
I can't begin to express my gratitude to the kind folks at For Pete's Sake. I was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, and then learned that it had metastasized in 2020. Going through the diagnostic process and then multiple surgeries during a global pandemic was extremely stressful! I was delighted to be nominated for a respite trip, and my husband and I traveled in November 2023. The FPS staff did everything they could to ensure a wonderful trip, which is what we had! The Woodloch resort was amazing, and the staff there was wonderful too. The FPS team provided multiple activities just for our group, ranging from cardboard boat building (so much fun!) and chair yoga, whose instructor emphasized the need to be kind to ourselves. We were encouraged to participate, but also reassured that the trip was for us, however we wished to spend it. It was a relaxing, rejuvenating, rewarding experience. I enjoyed sharing the trip with other folks who have cancer, though cancer was rarely the focus. I appreciated that they understood without explanation when I needed to rest. Much love to the Woodloch Warriors!
For anyone contemplating donating to this organization, please do! The money will be put to good use, and all the staff members I interacted with are dedicated to helping people take a break from cancer. Thank you, For Pete's Sake!
