Native Forward Scholars has helped me persist throughout my graduate education. As a first-generation low-income college graduate, attending graduate school was terrifying. Native Forward’s knowledge, presentations, and alumni network has helped me earn my masters degree and soon to be doctorate. Not only have they helped me, they have helped hundreds of other Native scholars! We are among the most underrepresented minority in higher education. Our voices, realities, and unique histories are often looked over, considered an asterisk, or ignored. Allowing us the opportunity to attend institutions of higher education has not only helped our people advocate for themselves, but advocate for our futures. I am forever grateful for the great work they do!
