As a board member, I don't often get to see Access front office staff in action. Just recently, I was sitting in the waiting room when two separate clients entered, in distress. One was a senior citizen and one was a young mother with a baby in her arms. The front desk staff person treated each with the utmost respect-- in a way that allowed them to maintain dignity and met their needs immediately. She did not "pass them off," to another person. She actually went online and helped the senior to fill out necessary utility recertification assistance paperwork. She then made a timely appointment with a case manager for the young mother and also assured that her immediate, survival needs were met. It made me so very proud to serve on this Board of Directors, for an organization that not only "talks the talk, but also walks the walk." Access truly is a model for other nonprofit agencies to follow.
