After losing my husband to Covid in December 2020, our rescue Abby helped me learn to navigate being alone. She was an amazing cat, loved everyone and adapted easily to any situation. Unfortunately, she had Feline AIDS, which we knew when we adopted her, but knew that she would have the happiest life with us. She died unexpectedly the end of March. It was the first time since my husband died that I felt lonely. Having cats my whole life, I knew I needed another companion. I fell in love with Persia’s picture. She was small (like Abby), about 4 years old, and lived in a big cat colony in Riverview, so semi-feral. Bridgette from DART brought her to me the end of April. Persia has completely bonded to me, but is still frightened of everything and everyone, but she’s getting better. Hopefully, with time, she’ll become more social. DART does do much for so many animals and like most rescues, needs our help and support.
