There are not enough words to describe the consistently outstanding quality and delightful variety of productions at Shakespeare and Company …year after year after year. The Summer program with productions like Women of Will are as educational as they are brilliant and there is more learning to be had in that program’s 15 hour marathon than many of us absorbed in four college years studying classical theater. The creative genius and fiery courage of Tina Packer lives on in the company as she continues to share her vast knowledge and well-honed skills as a director, as an actor, as an educator and as a mentor for new, young talent. What a privilege to watch her inspire so many from the ambitious youth programs led by the inexhaustible and dedicated Kevin Coleman to her very loyal following with the highly educated retired community in the Berkshires. And to watch the magnificence of John Douglas Thompson in an intimate Berkshire setting is something no wise soul should ever miss or take for granted. And then there are the new plays that are born in this magical setting like THE TASTER which is probably the most moving and most delicate piece of theater since maybe….THE GLASS MENAGERIE. What lovely surprises are in store for every one of us when we buy a ticket and watch this ambitious company with its rollicking energy continue to delight us. They’re the best in the business and they love what they do. What a gift they are and how very honored we are to support them.
