Let me tell you about Day1 Bags!! They have been incredible! The first year I reached out to them, I filled out the application and within days received 200 leather duffel bags, that Gracefully Planted, my own 501C3 used to give Christmas gifts to the Foster kids we support in the state of Texas! They are constantly adding new campaigns, like adopt a senior, something that we are considering doing as well.
What an example of Gods love they are to children in the foster care system! My favorite endeavor is the Diginity not trash- where people carry their belongings around in a trash bag all day. The idea is that someone will ask, “why are you carrying that trash bag”? This opens up the conversation to talk about what children in the system experience when they are being removed from their home. It’s tragic and heartbreaking and Day 1 bags provides these kids with an excellent quality duffel bag or backpack, giving back some dignity with this simple act of kindness and compassion!
I truly can’t say enough about the example and light they bring to a world full of darkness!
