Fort Myers, FL. Nine Kiwanis Clubs in Division 19 in Florida have agreed to launch Duffle Bag for Foster Children. We plan to do this project throughout the year in the future. Thanks to Day 1 Bags for providing bags to help launch the program. Linda Martin of Kiwanis Florida District is our inspirational leader. Thank you for all you do. God bless Day 1 Bags for all you do to help kids!
Thank you so much for celebrating my graduation with me. I was so blessed and overwhelmed with the wonderful gift. You have provided me gift card quilt. I never expected this.

CONGRATULATIONS to you! We are so proud of your accomplishment. Keep reaching for the stars!
I learned of the opportunity to make and donate quilts to Day 1 Bags (a very odd name, by the way) on Facebook. I like giving back to my community and I like to make quilts but have no one to give quilts to. The program with Day 1 Bags seemed like the perfect marriage to two important parts of my life. It was easy to sign up and a response from the organization was timely, but follow-up communication was spotty and not necessarily informative or clear. I think that part of the problem may be an insufficient number of volunteers, especially when considering the vastness of the state of Texas. Perhaps as the work of Day 1 Bags becomes more generally known there will be more folks who would be able to volunteer, thus making the organization more dynamic and able to make a bigger impact on those they so generously serve. In spite of my 2-star rating, I have already made one quilt top for the class of 2026 and intend to make at least one more.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your honest feedback and for your generosity in creating a quilt for a foster youth. We deeply appreciate your commitment to giving back and understand that clear and consistent communication is just as important as the mission itself. You're right—we are growing rapidly, and as an all-hands-on-deck nonprofit, we sometimes face challenges keeping up with communication across such a large state. Your insight is helpful and valid, and we’re actively working to improve the volunteer experience, including enhancing follow-up and providing clarity throughout the process. Despite the hiccups, it means so much that you're still creating quilts for the Class of 2026. Your continued support directly impacts youth who often go unrecognized and reminds them they are seen and celebrated . Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Your voice—and your quilts—matter.
I've been involved with Day 1 Bags for three years, two as the Region 11 Coordinator for their "Do you Sew" campaign that provides quilts and other gifts to Foster Children graduating from High School. At the end of year parties, I can tell you that these gift touch the hearts of many of the graduating Seniors. While at these parties, I've also heard so many stories for workers within the industry about how much they appreciate the bag donations, and what those donations impact makes.

I plan on donating a quilt or two for the 2024 Graduating Class. I found this organization a little too late to participate this year. I was looking for a place to donate quilts, and I've been a CASA advocate in the past. This organization lines up with all the things I've been passionate about in life. Their mission is amazing and they seem to accomplish a lot within our community.
We are incredibly grateful to Day 1 Bags for their generous donation of bags to the Isaiah 117 House. So often kids arrive with only a trash bag with a few of their belongings. The donation of bags helps us be able to give the kids something of their own. Every child deserves to feel seen and valued, and Day 1 Bags helps make that possible.
Day 1 Bags has provided amazing bags for the kids we serve who are in foster care. The duffle bags prevent the kids from carrying their belongings in trash bags. We have used some of the smaller bags for school supplies and feminine hygiene products. The younger kids love the smaller backpacks that fit them so much better than the normal size. Thank you so much.
What a wonderful inspiration to share beautifully hand-crafted bags for persons who truly deserve them! thank you so much for caring!

I have found that partnering with Day1 I am able to feel very confident in the tote bags that we send out to our children and families. The staff and families adore the work of the hands of the quilters. They rave at the uniqueness of each bag! Thank you Day1 for introducing this idea to TCRR. Tarrant County Rainbow Room has greatly been enhanced by this contribution.
Day 1 Bags provides a variety of bag types to my non-profit (Foster the Family) to be used for our Foster CARE Packages we deliver when a child enters foster or kinship care. They have been a wonderful partner for us! Orders are shipped quickly and the bags are good quality. We're excited to continue to collaborate together.
Day 1 Bags provides a gesture of love and caring to graduating youth aging out of the foster care system. These youth have overcome difficult odds and Day 1 rewards them with a care package that help remind them that we have not forgotten them, we are aware of their accomplishments and are looking forward to seeing more. Our youth leave with a feeling that strangers do care for them.

Filling a gap for foster youth. As a quilter I make quilts to donate to their graduating seniors program but they also provide bags so kids don’t have to keep their things in trash bags! I love the heart for foster kids that this organization shows and coming along side to help is a natural.

I believe in the mission and heart of Day 1 Bags and have made quilts to walk along side this organization as they continue to make a difference in the lives of children who didn’t always have a trustworthy adult standing up for them. I believe we are called to care for those around us and they are standing in the gap for so many children in our country that need to know that they are worthy and have value just like the rest of us.
This is a great way for someone who sews to help kids in need. Even if you don't quilt, there are other things to make. Or you can adopt a graduate foster child and make sure they have a gift when they graduate school.
We are beyond grateful to Day 1 Bags for their generous donation of duffle bags for children entering foster care. These bags are so much more than just luggage — they represent dignity, comfort, and a small sense of ownership during a very uncertain time. Because of your support, children no longer have to carry their belongings in trash bags, but instead receive a brand-new duffle bag that they can call their own. The quality of the bags is outstanding, and the care put into providing them is evident. Thank you for partnering with us to make a difficult transition a little bit easier and more hopeful for our children.
A wonderful opportunity to get involved with a segment of the community that needs support, but isn’t particularly accessible for those who aren’t involved on the front lines.
Day 1 Bags is a great partner with my social service organization. Through the generosity of one of their donors, Day 1 Bags gave us 1,000 backpacks for the abused children we serve in Houston. Their donation empowers children with the tools necessary for a good school year and brings joy as they heal from abuse. We are honored to work with Day 1 Bags and look forward to our continued relationship.
We are incredibly grateful to Day 1 Bags for their generous donation of 1,000 backpacks to support the children and families we serve at The Children’s Assessment Center. This donation will have a profound impact as we prepare our clients for a successful start to the upcoming school year.
For many of the children we serve, access to essential school supplies can be a barrier to confidence, academic success, and a sense of normalcy. These backpacks, filled with care and purpose, will ensure that our clients walk into their classrooms equipped and empowered. Beyond the school supplies, these bags carry a message of hope, dignity, and community support.
Thanks to Day 1 Bags, our Back-to-School initiative is stronger than ever. We are truly honored to partner with an organization so deeply committed to uplifting vulnerable youth. On behalf of our entire team, thank you for being a part of the healing journey for the children and families of the CAC.
I have been working with Day 1 Bags for just under a year. It is a great charity that works closely with the system to support children in foster care. They provide much needed supplies, host graduation parties, and most importantly, let the children and young adults know that they are loved. It’s a great organization, and I look forward to our partnership working together in the future.

I volunteered to make a quilt for a graduating senior in foster care. I got to share what I was doing with so many, and got my friend to donate the quilting of it. It was awesome, I am already looking forward to the next quilt I will make!
I have been a volunteer making quilts through this organization for several years. The quilts are given to youth aging out of the foster care system in Texas who are graduating from high school. This organization has minimal overhead or administrative costs. It is driven by the volunteers who donate all materials and time to make quilts. These youth are members of an often overlooked segment of the population who have achieved success even with the hardships of their lives.
Many quilters have exhausted our families with quilts. It’s so nice to do something you enjoy - like quilting- and provide a gift to a young person just starting out. Get to show that they are loved!
I am involved with sewing quilts for graduating high school foster care students.

I have been very impressed with the responsiveness, organization and initiative of this organization to meet the needs of the youth.
This was my first year volunteering to make a quilt for a graduating senior and it was such a wonderful experience. Day 1 Bags is incredibly organized considering they are coordinating quilt collection across the entire state of Texas and nearly entirely volunteer led. I'm so happy to have been a part of such an impactful mission and hope that the gifts the graduates received will help them feel loved and valued in their communities.
The mission of Day 1 Bags brings the best to those in foster care who need to know they are not alone on this journey. Day 1 Bags allows for different skills to move toward the same goals of ensuring those in foster care are remembered and cherished. Communications are clear and available in many different platforms and sites. My questions were always answered promptly. I recommend Day 1 Bags to everyone I know and have many who have come on board to spread their time and talents to this organization.

Thank you to Day 1 Bag for all the gifts, donations, quilts, gift cards, and for celebrating with us one of our youths in foster care's greatest accomplishments. Your continuous support every year, along with the tremendous love and generosity our youths receive, especially during this FY 2025, is greatly appreciated. We are incredibly grateful for your generous contributions to our recent event. Your support made a significant impact, and we would love to share some feedback with you.
Day 1 Bags has been a continuously strong partner for the Isaiah 117 House in Marion County. Our organization serves as a temporary placement for children entering into the Foster Care system. After being removed from an abusive or neglectful home, children face a short period of waiting before being placed with a family or shelter, and we hold this in-between time with them. Many children come with nothing, and those who do come with items bring them in a dirty bag or even a trash bag. Day 1 Bags provides an opportunity for our children to leave with a new, high-quality duffel bag and a new sense of dignity in their being. We are so grateful that they are willing to partner with us and help change the way Foster Care begins. We have served over 150 children this year already, and every child has been able to leave with a bag thanks to Day 1 Bags!
I had a great time at the high school graduation celebration. I am happy to have received several prizes and will remember the experience for a long time.
No one helps these less fortunate children than Day 1 Bags

I was able to help participate in making key chains for the graduating seniors of the foster youth. It was wonderful to help Day 1 bags though this simple task, and I'm grateful we could help!
Our class put together some key-chains with inspirational quotes for graduating seniors. Making these meant a lot to me since everyone deserves a reminder that someone cares about them and loves them.
My class made key chains for the bags. The key chains were made up of words of confirmation on a little wood block. I feel doing little things like this can serve as reminders throughout the day that when you feel down you have something to look forward to.
We made encouraging key chains for the class of 2025 seniors in foster care. We also wrote heart felt messages on Valentine's Day cards to spread the love of the day! I LOVE them and so do the kiddos that come to the Bluebonnet Room! We have a lady here in the area who also make them so we had those in the room prior to receiving these. We will always take more. :) The best part is not knowing what designs we are going to get next.
I am a volunteer with the ‘Back to School Bash’ held at the Lakehills Community Center in Bandera County. I help stuff the backpacks in advance and hand out the bags the day of the event. I distribute to the Kindergarten and First Graders. I love to see the smiling faces and hear the squeals of delight when the kids get their backpacks- especially the Kindergarden ones. This is usually their first backpack and they love to pick out their choice of animal or color. The puppy dog and kitty cat ones are so popular. I have had the delightful opportunity to meet both Hunter and his mother. Hunter is a role model and gives me hope for America
Day 1 Bags has blessed our community with bags for the youth so generously. They have impacted so many lives! I was so happy to be a volunteer in this situation.
The drawstring bags are beautiful and large enough to carry necessary supplies for the children we serve. As a volunteer, I was in charge of placing items in the drawstring bags. Items placed in the drawstring bags included 2 books, small blanket, small bottles of shampoo, small bottles of conditioner, soap, and other items based on gender needs. The beautiful drawstring bags have awesome designs and are very colorful; they are something that I would purchase for a young relative of mine.
When we reached out to DAY 1 bags requesting for bags, we were unsure if they were able to help us, but to our surprise, they were able to help us and provided us with everything we were looking for and more information as well. This organization is one that I hope to build long term partnership with as we continue to help and support children in need. Thank you - Perpetual (JP Cares)

My sister is a big supporter of Day 1 bags for foster children. These children need all the support they can get because most are afraid and have to leave everything they know behind. This gives them a hug.
Our journey with Day 1 bags began with the tragedy in Uvalde Texas. We donated bears to bless the children impacted by the school shooting. We had not heard of Day 1 bags before this time. I've learned about this nonprofit through an organization called NCL. I am very grateful for the opportunity to help with something so thoughtful to the community. Everything that this one idea has brought to life is amazing. Packing the bags, decorating them, thinking of the kids, is something so rewarding not just for your self, but it makes the community a better place. I would recommend anyone to be a part of this because it is so simple yet makes big impacts.
I worked with my daughter and a few friends putting together hygiene bags together for teenagers at a group home. We assembled bags and delivered to the home. A Magical Evening with Day 1 Bags and JONES Christmas Ranch
This holiday season, the children at Roy Maas Youth Alternatives experienced an unforgettable evening of joy and wonder, thanks to the incredible generosity of Day 1 Bags and JONES Christmas Ranch. The event was nothing short of magical, as it brought the spirit of Christmas to life for our youth.
The evening began with a heartwarming dinner where the children enjoyed delicious food while sharing laughter and stories with one another. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as the kids prepared for what was to come.
Next, the children were treated to a breathtaking holiday light experience at JONES Christmas Ranch. With twinkling lights illuminating the night sky and festive decorations around every corner, the ranch became a winter wonderland. The kids marveled at the dazzling displays, their faces lighting up as they soaked in the beauty of the season.
To make the night even more special, Day 1 Bags surprised each child with thoughtful gifts. These presents, carefully selected to bring smiles and happiness, created a sense of belonging and love that warmed every heart. The generosity of Day 1 Bags reminded the children that they are cherished and cared for, especially during the holidays.
This joyful evening of connection, celebration, and holiday cheer left a lasting impact on the children of RMYA. We are deeply grateful to Day 1 Bags and JONES Christmas Ranch for their kindness and dedication to making this season brighter for our youth. Together, they created memories that will be treasured for years to come.
What Day1 contributes to helping develop the dignity of our children is invaluable. We are so appreciative of all your hard work and dedication!

I highly recommend Day 1 Bags!
I volunteer to make quilts for this charity because I want every child graduating from foster care to know that they are values in our society and not forgotten. I pray i er each quilt I make that the recipient knows their worth and finds success in the world!
This organization is doing something truly extraordinary for kids in foster care. Too often, children in the foster system have to carry their personal belongings in trash bags, a heartbreaking reality that no child should face. Day 1 Bags steps in to change that narrative, providing high-quality duffels and backpacks to ensure these kids have a sense of dignity and ownership over their belongings.
The thoughtfulness and care that go into their work are truly inspiring. It's not just about the bags themselves but about the message they send: "You are valued, and you deserve better." By offering something as simple yet significant as a sturdy, well-made bag, Day 1 Bags helps foster children feel seen and respected during such a challenging time in their lives.
The Jones Christmas Ranch showed us a great time. Our staff and kiddos loved the activities, food and lights. This event was amazing. The lights had to be the children favorite part.

I couldn’t say enough great things about day 1 bags! Their impact to the foster care community is so much more than a bag. I’m so grateful for all of the ways the day one teams have come alongside us!

Such a great organization! Its amazing all that they have done for the community and those in foster care!
For the past year and a half, I have been with BRSC, and I have enjoyed getting to know the kids and staff. I helped the kids learn how to handle conflict. From affirming that it is okay to cry, to talk things out, or to remove themselves from the conflict, etc. This can be very helpful for these kids to learn how resolve conflict to walk through tough situations without harm themselves or those arounds them.
Teaching them life skills, such as cooking or time management. I have also joined to together with the ranch staff to make a thanksgiving dinner together, to celebrate their birthdays making them feel special. Overall, providing a safe, loving, and life-enhancing Christian environment for children and young adults.
Our children in foster care and our young adults love Day 1 Bags! They are so wonderful, thoughtful, and intentional with the care that they provide. Every one of our residents got individual attention, and a unique experience that I'm sure they will remember when they grow up and reflect.
Thank you for making the youth we care for feel loved and appreciated.
Thank you all so much for the love you have shown us! I was filled with such joy experiencing what you all have worked so hard to capture! You will always be a favorite memory of mine! I was with Mercy Gate by the way lol!
I had never seen anything like this before and the best part is I was able to do it with my mom. ... my heart was so full ! Thank you all so much! oh and I was with Mercy Gate!
This was such a heartwarming event, and I definitely was able to feel the love that everyone put into the experience ... it truly brought me so much joy! You all are forever family to Mercy Gate!
It was so amazing and all of the lights were beautiful! I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for all of their hard word and dedication in making this a wonderful Christmas experience! ps I was with Mercy Gate!
I went along with Mercy Gate, the food was so good and everyone was very friendly. I enjoy being silly and no one had a problem being silly along with me.. I truly enjoyed the entire experience!
Jones Christmas ranch was beyond amazing in every kind of way! I had the privilege of attending a dinner and gift giveaway they hosted for mercy gate ministries! I highly recommend the fun festive place to anyone!! I’d give ten stars if I was allowed! Thank you jones Christmas ranch for the most memorable time with the people I love!!
I attended with Mercy Gate Ministries, in December of 2022 I had just arrived into the program and was in awe of how beautiful the lights were! After walking through my healing journey I returned this year as an employee and had the opportunity of having my son with me to share in such a memorable and beautiful experience. Despite my son being 17 I seen the joy on his face and it brought much healing to my heart as I had missed many opportunities to enjoy holidays with him. We are truly blessed to be invited and served in such love and hospitality on top of all of that the gifts were truly a wonderful blessing ! This is an amazing experience that everyone should have ! Thank you to everyone that volunteered to make this so special! Blessings to you all … I pray the Lord brings favor and joy to you and your family for many years to come !
I have visited the Christmas Ranch two years in a row now. The first year I came with Mercy Gate Ministries (a faith based program that helps women heal who have been victims of sexual trauma). I didn't have my kids with me and it was a very emotional time for me. The staff was incredible at making sure we all felt so loved. They greeted us with a meal, gifts and prayer. This year I got to come again, and this year I was able to have my children with me. These people allow the Lord to work miracles of healing through this place. I cannot say enough how grateful I am for the experience they have provided for me and my children.
Day 1 Bags was such a blessing to Mercy Gate Ministries. We help those who are coming out of human trafficking and sexual exploitation and Day1Bags loved on the women in such a sweet way. Thank you for sharing with us. God bless you all!
We want to express our deepest gratitude to Day 1 Bags for the incredible impact they made on the foster kids who attended the recent holiday party. The generosity shown through the gifts, gift cards, and the festive atmosphere created a truly special experience for the children who attended.
The holiday season can be a particularly challenging time for foster children, as they often face feelings of uncertainty or isolation. However, Day 1 Bags turned this experience into something memorable and full of joy. The thoughtful gifts and gift cards were more than just material items; they were symbols of love, care, and the belief that these children deserve the best. For many, it was an opportunity to pick out something for themselves—something that they may not have had the chance to do otherwise.
The holiday party itself was filled with warmth and excitement, offering an environment where the kids could just relax, have fun, and enjoy being children without the weight of their struggles. From the smiles on their faces to the laughter shared, it was clear that the event provided not just tangible gifts but also a sense of belonging, hope, and joy. The atmosphere was filled with love, and the children felt seen, cared for, and celebrated.
We are so grateful to Day 1 Bags for their unwavering commitment to foster youth and for making this holiday season a little brighter for so many children. Thank you for bringing hope, happiness, and a sense of security to these young lives!
The last 2 years, Day 1 Bags have donated stuffed animals for National Adoption Day. Each child leaves the adoption hearing with a stuffed animal and a smile on their face. You can see each child light up when they are able to choose a stuffed animal.
Thank you, Day1 Bags!
We received several stuffed animals from Day 1 Bags for Ellis County National Adoption Day. We loved every one as they were unique and special with reference to scripture. All the kids gravitated towards these in particular when choosing their special Adoption Day Stuffy. THANKS AGAIN!
They have always been so wonderful to step in and provide the very best quality stuffed animals for our kiddos in the care of CPS - to help the celebrate on adoption day and for all of our kiddos that are adopted. This agency makes a huge difference on such an important day in a child's life!
Volunteering at Day 1 Bags as part of my Cotillion service project was a meaningful and eye-opening experience.
The experience taught me that volunteering isn't just about giving time—it's about understanding the impact we have on others. It made me realize how fortunate I am, and how important it is to lend a hand to those who are going through challenging situations.
Overall, this project showed me that no matter how young you are, you can make a real difference in your community. Helping others through volunteering isn't just a responsibility, it’s an opportunity to show kindness and make the world a little better, one small action at a time.
I volunteered at Day 1 Bags, helping prepare for an upcoming Christmas party. I helped stuff stockings for youth and children who are less fortunate then I am. I felt good knowing that I contributed to making the upcoming event a success.
Day 1 Bags were our heroes for the month of September! Our organization, Isaiah 117 House Dallas County, serves foster children awaiting placement. Since opening our doors in June 2023, we have seen over 375 children coming straight from being removed from their homes. Most of the time, they do not have any belongings of their own, so we make it a point to pack bags for our guests with clothes, pajamas, hygiene products, toys and anything they are in need of. We were running low on duffel bags and we reached to Day 1 Bags to see if they could help and they truly went above and beyond! They provided us with duffel bags promptly and with amazing communication throughout the process! We are so grateful for the way they filled this need in such a timely manner!
We are blown away by our experience with Day One Bags. We called with a need for bags for the children and families that we serve who do not have transportation or may be unsheltered. We told them our full need and within 48-hours there were 300 bags that arrived and able to be used immediately. Thank you for answering the call so quickly and meeting the need with such compassion. We are grateful to be a partner in action and highly recommend Day One Bags as a top notch nonprofit.
Amazing!!!! Super cool place to visit for Christmas! And they are doing so much for foster kids to enjoy the holidays!
What a pleasure to work with Day 1 Bags! A few days ago we received a shipment of nap rolls and have stocked them in our Rainbow Room. These will be available for use by Comal County foster and kinship families for children attending day care. In addition, they will be available to DFPS workers for children immediately after removal while awaiting final preparations by their placement. These nap rolls are high quality and greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for partnering with Period Kits NC to provide bags to store menstrual products in for our Forsyth County, NC group homes. The bags provided are super great quality and our girls living in group homes were over the moon excited to receive these items.
Thank you,
Sabrina Bowman
So thankful for Day 1 Bags and how they've partnered with our local Foster the Family branch to provide quality bags for care packages for foster, adoptive, and kinship families. The bags are quality, vibrant, and are the perfect companion to our care packages so that kids get the items they need and have quality items to use.
As a young contributor to day one bags, I felt pleased with all of the progress the other members and I made while being able to volunteer and help around the ranch. I wrote heartfelt Christmas cards for the foster children, filled up some stockings for the children and brought chapsticks for them too! I felt very happy and proud that I was able to participate in these activities, because it made me aware how blessed us kids are that we are able to do these things for children in need, but also that we learned to be grateful for what we have, because lots of other kids in the world do not. I can’t even begin to imagine their excited faces once they see the gifts and cards!
Timothy 4:4-5
“For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.”
This bible verse reminds me to always be thankful and grateful for what you have, and I believe that Day 1 Bags made not only me but other volunteers feel this way.
This past month I served my heart out at the Jones Christmas ranch as a volunteer, and did everything from hammering a snowman to the ground to drawing one on a homemade card. I had lended a hand with constructing cheerful cards for soon-to-be cheerful kids that feel cold not only on the outside but deep within them on the inside throughout wintertime, and with placing and stabilizing the light decorations for them to delight their eyes upon. My sweet friends in another group also stocked up some stockings with goodies for the youth in foster care. I believe that it was significantly impactful to give our time to others for this loving season, just as God gifted us with his one and only precious son. I have faith that we truly did influence in making a special someone else's Christmas shine just as bright as the Jones Christmas ranch sparkling lights!
Matthew 5:14-16
"Your lives light up the world. For how can you hide a city that stands on a hilltop? And who would light a lamp and then hide it in an obscure place? Instead, its placed where everyone in the house can benefit from its light.”
This great organization has helped me realize the impact that one person can make in this big world.
At Cotillion day one bags I had such a great experience! The leaders were kind and helped make things run smoothly. The things they had planned were very fun and also gave you a good feeling knowing that you are doing something to help people that aren't as fortunate as you. I was able to un-pack stuffed animals for foster kids and write 17 sweet Christmas cards! They may seem like small things but they can make someone's day!
It was such a fun event. I love volunteering and it was so much fun to help and spend time with my friends. At the event I wrote Christmas cards and helped get lights out of the shed they had.
It was a really fun experience and I made some friends from other schools. I was placed in the group where we had to fill the stockings and I thought it was really fun because we all had to work as a team to finish.
As of August 10, 2024, James City County Virginia, had 16 children who are in foster care, between 1-year-old and 18 years old. Sadly, when they enter foster care, supervised by the James City County Child Protective Services (JCCCPS), they are given a small plastic bag with all their worldly belongings---often, minimal items, which is deplorable.
Obviously, when a child enters foster care, it is an extremely traumatic event---both physically and mentally, not only for the child, but others.
Day 1 Bags has supported a service project sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Colonial Capital, here in Williamsburg, VA, whereby, “comfort items” such as toiletries, toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, and a stuffed animal, held by a small duffle bag, are provided to the James City Child Protective Services, to give to children entering foster care.
The Day 1 Bags charitable organization has graciously donated small duffel bags to hold all of the aforementioned items. Additionally, they donated medium and large duffel bags for storage of other donated items. Even more generous, Day 1 Bags donated 15 wonderfully precious stuffed animals from Mary & Martha, and each duffle bag will have one of these animals as well. Finally, Day 1 Bags donated 100 wooden key chains with one of the following verses: I am smart; I am kind; I am brave; I am strong; I am loved; and I am important. One of these wooden key chains is attached to each duffle bag the child receives.
I cannot commend and thank enough, Day 1 Bags, for their unselfish support of this service project. Each child who enters foster care in James City County, VA, will be provided one of these duffle bags and they will clearly know, that many people care about them, and that they are loved.
Thank you very much, Day 1 Bags, for all the support you have given, to ensure that this service project is a success.
The process for getting bags for youth in foster care was simple and smooth. So thankful to have found Day 1 Bags!
Day 1 Bags partnered with our nonprofit Period Kits NC to help provide bags for our kits to students in the foster care system. With their bags, we filled them with menstrual hygiene products. We could not be more appreciative of the beautiful and dignity friendly bags they donated to us. Together, they work with nonprofits like us to partner to make the population we serve feel pride and appreciation. We love Day 1 Bags1
This year (2024) Day 1 Bags donated to THE ALPHA & OMEGA PROPHETIC STREET & OUTREACH MINISTRY with 100 book bags for our 4th Annual Free Community Book Bag Give Away to less
fortunate children, here in Waterbury Ct. The quality of the bags, and colors are GREAT!! The Ministry appreciated the donation and look forward to hopefully next year receiving another one if selected. the MINISTRY, thank GOD for the caring of young children in foster homes, shelters, around the world, and we greatly appreciate your concern for COMMUNITY around the world. God bless you, and may he continue to lead you in your heart of GIVING!

We could not be more grateful to Day 1 Bags! They promptly sent an order of backpacks for our foster youth just in time for the back-to-school season. Thanks to their generous support, The Village Network can ensure that our clients are prepared not only to move residences, if necessary, but to thrive in their foster homes and in their schools. Thank you, Day 1 Bags!
Day 1 Bags is an amazing nonprofit organization that aims to serve the community by returning a sense of dignity that may have been taken from individuals experiencing homelessness, navigating the foster care system or facing some of life's most difficult challenges. We so often see people carrying what remains of their personal items in trash bags, grocery bags, or whatever they can find. By providing these individuals with high quality, durable duffle bags, backpacks and others, they can more safely and effectively store their items as they move from one place to another. We are so appreciative to Day 1 Bags for supporting us in serving the people of Bexar County.
We love the relationship/partnership we have with Day 1 Bags. They have been able to come alongside us at Embrace Texas, and help bolster what we do for foster/adoptive youth and families. Most recently they were able to donate adorable toiletry bags to bless our moms at our annual Foster/Adoptive Moms Retreat. The bags were good quality, good size and came in cute prints. We are so grateful!
Foster Love Bell County is a non-profit in Texas serving the Foster community in Bell and Coryell counties. We receive an average of 20 requests per week for items from our love closet. It is important to give these kids a nice duffle bag to carry their items in rather than a trash bag that they so often have. Thank you Day 1 Bags for providing a nice bag for basic needs to children in care!
Because of your contribution, we were able to bless 140 students with backpacks this year, and I am very grateful for that. I hope to be able to participate with organizations like Day 1 Bags.
Amazing!!! Thank you, Day 1 Bags, for helping us make the Holy One Kids Camp a success! We want to thank our Pastors, Ruben and Monica Cortez, for always finding great supporters to bless our children each year. This was an incredible gift to conclude all our camp activities.
Wow! I Love being part of this year's Holy One Kids Camp. As a volunteer, I had the chance to see the Joy in these children's faces as they received donations from Day 1 Bags, and it was awesome to be a volunteer who gave them these gifts.
Thank you for blessing my children with backpacks. We were not expecting such a great blessing. We are excited that The Holy One Church can partner with Non-profits like Day 1 Bags to make a difference in all our children's lives.
Thank Day 1 Bags for your generosity to the Holy 1 Kids Camp. You help our organization ensure that children in our community receive the supplies they need to continue their education. Once again, thank you for your generosity!
It was great to share in the joy of blessing children with backpacks from Day 1 Bags. Non-profits like Day 1 Bags help organizations like The Holy One Church significantly impact the children of the Harlandale community.
Dear Day 1 Bags,
Thank you for blessing my child with a backpack. This has been a difficult year financially for our family, and it's the little things that make the biggest difference. Thank you for supporting the Holy One Church Kids camp.
A simple backpack can make a world of difference to a child in need. With a new backpack, they can feel like they belong at school and have the tools to participate fully. From having paper ready for assignments to completing colorful projects, the right supplies can open doors to an unimaginable future. Thank you, Day 1 Bags, for your support!
Thank you, Day1Bags, for sponsoring the 2024 Holy One Kids' camp on behalf of The Holy One Church. Holy 1 Kids is a crucial ministry dedicated to reaching today's children, an indispensable mission in our current times. Your partnership has been invaluable, and 140 children were blessed at camp with your support. Your contribution was pivotal to the event's success, and we are immensely grateful to you and Day1Bags for your sponsorship. Thank you for being a blessing to our children.
This was an incredible event. The children were all excited to get their supplies. This event is a great way to serve the community and support the families. Great job!
We discovered Day 1 Bags via their comment on our non profit’s social media post, and love how their mission aligns with our own and how easy it was to request and receive supplies! Our organization received an abundance of backpacks and duffel bags that will help many children start their foster care journey out with bags of their very own belongings that are theirs to keep forever ❤️ Thank you Day 1 Bags for your mission and generosity! We love to see non-profits supporting non-profits :)
This company donated many duffle bags to Kiwanis' Duffle Bag Project for foster children. The bags are of super quality, very sturdy and of great size. Thank you to these bags, foster children now gave a good bag to keep their belongings, instead of a plastic garbage bag, as they used to have.
A member of ours began working on a Duffel Bags for Foster Kids project here in Punta Gorda, FL and later expanded it to all of Florida through Kiwanis. Once partnering with Day 1 Bags, we were able to receive an amazing donation of over 2,000 bags allowing us to provide better quality items of comfort and toiletries.
The bags themselves from both Flying Circle and Mint are incredible. The quality is durable, are good sized, has lots of room and pockets and the Mint styles are so fun!
Day 1 Bags is absolutely incredible and as a volunteer organization in Kiwanis, we are so grateful for the efforts that Day 1 Bags for kids all over the United States.
Day 1 Bags has been a tremendous help to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Child Protective Services. They have helped hundreds of children in care with backpacks for school and with what we call "comfort cases". When a child is removed from a dangerous situation in the home, often times they leave with nothing but the clothing on their backs. The children are then provided with a weeks' worth of clothing and a comfort case, a backpack. The comfort cases we build include a pair of pajamas, a blanket, a stuffed animal, hygiene products and activities as well as the backpack. Some of these items are treasures to the children in foster care and they, often times, carry these items for life. Building these cases would not be possible without the help of Day 1 Bags. They have truly been a God send not only to the Department but to the children in care.
We are a small nonprofit organization in Van Zandt County, which provides victimize children in State care basic essentials such as clothing, hygiene items, coats or jackets as well as comfort items. We have struggled to find tote bags in which to place our items for years. Thanks to Day One Bags, we now have beautiful and practical tote bags to supply the children. The children are so appreciative and we are thrilled to be recipients of Day One Bags. Thank you Day One.
I am so blessed by Day 1 Bags for their contribution of duffle bags to the Central FL area! We were given 100 durable duffle bags without hesitation, that our Kiwanis Club of Winter Garden can fill for the foster children that need it most! I’m so excited to work with them again!
For the last two years, we have used Day 1 bags as part of our VBS for 4th & 5th graders and have been nothing short of amazing. As part of our VBS, we want our kids to know they can serve and make an impact on others, and there is no greater model than the people at Day 1. What started as a small dream has reached thousands of people. The people there are helpful and insightful. We hope to partner with them for many more years to come!
As the Governor of the Florida District of Kiwanis, we have really been amazed at the level of giving from Day 1 Bags. As an organization who focuses on helping kids, Florida Kiwanis has partnered with Day 1 Bags on giving numerous bags filled with essential items to organizations who work with kids in foster care. We could not have had as large of an impact as we have had without the generosity of Day 1 Bags. We look forward to continue our partnership in the future. Yours in Service, Prairy Riehl
I've been in Scouting for about 5 years and the entire time I worked towards the goal of achieving the Eagle Rank. As a former foster brother, I quickly chose I project to donate 500 bags to another non profit with the goal to comfort the children in the foster system. It was a very slow process trying to gather all the bags needed as they were expensive causing people to be hesitate to donate them but when I contacted Day 1 Bags they seemed happy to help. We were able to pick up the 500 bags easily allowing my project to go much smoother than if I needed more donations. Thanks alot Day 1 Bags.
Day 1 Bags is absolutely incredible! From their selfless staff to the amazing impact they are making plus high quality bags. I am in the Florida District of Kiwanis and we collectively received their largest donation to date of over 2,000 bags! They worked so hard to help us even though they are based in Texas.
The team there is also extremely great at communication all throughout the process. They help in every which way they can and have such great attention to detail. Day 1 Bags are doing amazing impact and deserve more than a 5/5!
As a former foster family, we are quite familiar with the first night trauma of bringing a new child into the house. Having little for them to wear and dis-shoveled, if any, belongings. When it was time for our son to choose an Eagle Project, he did not hesitate in identifying a need of foster children and foster families. His vision was to prepare 500 comfort bags so families and children would have what they needed on Day 1. This organization shares our vision and is phenomenal at helping those that serve this community in reaching their goals to provide for children in need. Thank you Day 1 Bags for caring about children and families and putting feet to feelings to address the need of others. Phenomenal job!
The Jones Family Christmas Ranch and Day 1 Bags really know how to make these kids feel super special. One of our youth said: "This is what Heaven looks like”! And, a very special girl who is 16 years old girl said with tears in her eyes, “ I have never had my own stuffed animal before.” You all make us feel so special. THANK YOU!
Such a worthy cause. Our Foster kids never get enough recognition for their achievements. So many awesome volunteers spending their time and talents to provide each graduating senior in Texas Foster Systen a special quilt - plus bags and other goodies. The volunteers that coordinate each region do an outstanding job. Thank you
I have signed up for three years now to make a quilt for a graduate from high school that is aging out of foster care so that they know there are people who care and support them just when they may feel that there safety net is gone. This non-profit helps to boost these kids spirit and sense of self worth. I am proud to be a part of their mission!
I am an advocate with The San Antonio Metro Health Violence Prevention Services. I work in collaboration with the San Antonio Police Department Crisis Response Team. I recently assisted a family who experienced family violence who was given two bags for her children. The family truly appreciated the bags given to her children. This is a great assistance to the families in our community.
I truly appreciate the gifts and encouragement you gave me on this awesome accomplishment. I want to extend my "Thank you" for all the gifts. I truly appreciate them. Thank you for the CONGRATULATION cards. I feel so special!
Juliet B.
Thank you so much day 1 bags for my gifts and the letter it really meant a lot and I am forever going to cherish that memorie !

Hi,
I want to thank Day 1 Bags for the gifts I recently received. I recently graduated with my high school diploma which I never thought I would receive. I am a person who does not like feeling like all the attention is on me. However, I am grateful for everything I have been gifted during this big accomplishment.
Thank you, Day 1 Bags.

First off I will start by saying thank you to everyone who was involved with getting this day 1 organization started . I believe this organization is moving in the right direction the amount of help and support I’ve received has been tremendous for me .
The San Antonio Police Department appreciates Day 1 Bags and their contribution in helping us build trusting relationships with the youth of our community. Members of our Crisis Response Team have been able to hand out these bags to multiple children impacted by family violence. The bags are a great reminder to the child that the officer and the community care about them. We look forward to expanding the use of the bags to several more units.
I am a volunteer with Carrying Hope, which provides backpacks filled with all of the necessities for children entering the foster care system. The backpacks we get from Day 1 Bags are a critical component of our work, ensuring these children not only have the clothing, toiletries and other supplies they need, but also a sturdy backpack they can use for school and other activities.
Growing up I was very much in my head and my world. Instead of getting a babysitter, my mom would go to work and leave me at the house. We didn’t have a TV or anything. And when there’s no one to talk to, you are your own best friend. Alone was my normal. When I was placed in a shelter at 9, I had to talk to other people. It was hard. I decided to get busy and focus on my studies. I knew I could become something other than a daydreamer. I accomplished my dream and I am going to college now. Thank you for being there and taking time to think of what I may need as I leave foster care. I never had a quilt, first aid kit, or $100 gift card... and a card congratulating me. I never knew how many kind people there are in the world. I know you will never meet me but to know the kindness of others means a lot and gives me hope. Thank you - C - Class of 2024. (photo is of last week's graduation party)
Day 1 bags allowed us to reach out to and help people in our area who are dealing with mental health crises. It’s so important to us that we could contribute our time and support to something that matters so much to us. Their work has made it possible for us to reach so many who need it and it was easy for us to do it!
For our high school youth group outreach project of creating mental health bags, to help an individual going through a mental health crisis, inspired by Day 1 Bags: Day 1 Bags graciously donated 400 bags to our youth group. With the help of their donation we are able to create 400 mental health bags and distribute them around our community to organizations that help individuals through mental health crises. Day 1 Bags has not only helped our organization but a variety of other organizations in our community with mental health and foster care. Providing support for organizations in our community so that more people can help aid the on going mental health crisis. We are so incredibly thankful for Day 1 Bags and all that they do in our community!!
Day 1 Bags is such a generous organization. The teens in foster care in our area receive a duffle bag when they graduate and it is the best quality! We know when we fill it with necessities and fun things that they are receiving a wonderful product that was produced with so much love and care!
I was thrilled to help with gifts for seniors in foster care in our state and Day 1 has provided bags for each senior for several years. These bags are so useful and durable. I know the seniors will find these so helpful as they begin the next phases of their life.
We're so grateful that Day 1 Bags provides dignity and hope to children and youth experiencing foster care. They are invaluable partners to our organization as we serve children and families impacted by foster care in Arkansas!
Previous Stories
I am a Crisis Response Team Officer with the San Antonio Police Department. Sylvia and Ashley have been graciously donating these bags to our department. These bags are given to children who have experienced a traumatic event. They are used to help them focus on the items inside the bags rather than the situation at hand.
The children I have come in contact with range from ages of infancy to teenaged. The children are extremely excited and appreciative when they receive the bags. Most encounters with police are usually not pleasant. These bags definitely help to develop a positive interaction with police. Thank you once again for all you do for our children.
Thank you Day 1 Bags for providing duffels and backpacks for the group home children in Forsyth County, NC! We are so very appreciative to your support for our children!
Hunter has a great story and addressing an incredible need for kids in dire need. A simple and compassionate way to bring hope to these children who are often overlooked. A+ work and leadership Hunter!
I recently had the opportunity to visit with Hunter about Day 1 Bags at a local charity event. He is an amazing young man who is working to provide simple necessities to youth after living through similar situations as a young boy. I was thankful that he received a small donation for his organization and look forward to more great things in the future from Hunter as he works to grow his network and impact foster youth all across the country.
What an incredible organization that helps to brighten the day of kids during one of the most challenging moments a child can face!
This is an incredible organization! Each child that receives a Day 1 Bag is deserving of entering a new home environment with dignity and love, and this organization helps provide that. Hunter is a very talented young man, and he could be doing a lot of things that would more financially lucrative to him, but this is a cause that he passionately believes in and is worthy of support.
I was surprised to hear that over 150,000 trauma bags have been distributed to foster kids in need in over 47 states!
Day 1 Bags is a profoundly impactful initiative, bringing dignity and care to foster and at-risk youth through the simple yet powerful gesture of providing new bags and backpacks. Witnessing Hunter and his team present at our inaugural Boerne 100 event was a heartwarming experience. Their dedication to replacing the indignity of trash bags with the respect and hope that comes from receiving a new, high quality bag is commendable. Just think - over 150,000 bags across 47 states and Hunter is only 23! Day 1 Bags doesn't just offer a practical solution but stands as a beacon of hope, signaling the start of a new, hopeful chapter in the lives of these young individuals. The team's commitment to their mission, ensuring 92 cents of every dollar donated goes directly towards serving these youths, reflects their integrity and the real difference they're making. In fact, they have a perfect score of 100 on an independent charity watchdog - Charity Navigator where less than one-tenth of one percent of charities they rate earn a perfect score! Day 1 Bags is one of them. Supporting Day 1 Bags is more than a donation; it's an investment in the future of our community's most vulnerable.

Thank you Boerne 100! You are our featured review!
I recently learned about Day 1 bags and it's Mission to provide children in foster care with a bag for their belongings vs their clothes being stuffed into a trash bag. Providing children in foster care with dignity as they are moved to another family is a worthy and meaningful calling!
Been following day one bags since the beginning, Hunter has done incredible work! What a noble cause, I had no idea when I first heard about this that Foster kids were basically given a trash bag of stuff. Pretty sad! Thank you, Day1 bags for raising awareness and giving all these kiddos, such great hope and dignity. Keep up the great work.
Having a quality bag matters and so glad that Day 1 Bags has made sure these youth do not receive a trash bag for their belongings.
I met this young man, quite impressive the mark he has made at only 23. I had no idea that children entering foster care were given trash bags as luggage when removed from their home, Little things such as this can make big differences in these kids’ lives. Great charity!
The quality of the Day 1 bags is amazing, and we are so happy to be able to use these for the kiddos when they go to the foster homes. We are a small, rural community so donations are so very hard to come by. I can't tell you how excited I was to share your site with the rest of the office. We will be splitting our bags with another DHHS office in our district as well since we share the same supervisor. We are so grateful for all you do to ease the children's first night in a new home.

Thank you so much for your input.
We're thrilled to share an incredible update with our amazing community! Thanks to a generous donation from Day 1 Bags, Love Heals Youth has received 200 duffle bags/backpacks for our foster kids!
These duffle bags symbolize so much more than just a means to carry belongings; they represent dignity, hope, and the understanding that our children deserve the very best.
This heartfelt donation from Day 1 Bags ensures that every child in our care feels seen, valued, and supported as they carry a piece of home with them, no matter where they go.
We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to Day 1 Bags for their kindness and to all of you for your continued support. Together, we're not just changing the way our children travel; we're changing how they view themselves and their place in the world.
The 8th grade students of Boerne ISD had the best time assembling first aid kits and learning about our foster students in Texas.

The class of 2026 Cotillion group had the opportunity to hold a drive to benefit foster graduates. We had already completed two hands on projects, so a drive and ‘get together’ was perfect. We had over 100 students show up and bring multiple tubes of name brand chap sticks. The students counted them up and landed at 413! When I contacted Day 1 Bags they informed me they were actually short 410! God is so good and a little love sure goes a long way. The staff communicated quickly and has many project opportunities to fit the service your organization wants to provide. We love their vision and helping hearts.
Day 1 Bags blessed The STARS Program with a generous donation of bags including duffle bags and backpacks. We are so thankful for this donation. The STARS Program operates four therapeutic group homes for teenagers. Often times, teenagers are moved so often from place to place that they have to transport their belongings in garbage bags. Thanks to Day 1 bags, we can now properly back their belongings when they graduate from our program! We are blessed to collaborate with Day 1! Thank you for all that you do.
We work with families involved in the child welfare system in Missouri. We were told about Day 1 Bags and were able to get very nice quality bags. We are sharing the bags with children we work with and local Children's Division agencies!
Day One bags has been an integral part of our mission at the Release Care Closet in Omaha, Ne.
When our children come to our store, each of our children receive a new duffel bag, a teddy bear and a pillow or blanket. They are able to choose whatever clothes they wish as well as shoes, hygiene items, books and toys.
Last year we served over 900 children and so far this year we have already assisted over 300 children.
Thank you SO SO much for helping us serve our community!

Thank you Kim for your review! We are so glad that these youth receive these gifts and feel the love they deserve.
I wanted to share with your team that I have received many gifts from your organization including the nice gifts at the last Christmas party. Your bag has been the best bag ever. I hold on to it like I do my memories. The gifts are more than a bandaid to my wounds. These very nice gifts remind me I deserve to be loved. Inside my head, I have memories of being loved, wanted. But my mom’s love for drugs is stronger than her love for me. We all care about what others think of us and want to be liked. People can be nice, be considerate, be a decent human being. However, there are also many smaller, more discreet things that matter to our self-esteem. Those things have a huge effect on how others perceive you. Thank you Day 1 Bags for going above and beyond for youth in foster care.
We received beautiful bathroom bags and canvas duffel bags for children that will be coming into foster care in Calhoun County, MI. We will use the month of January to fill these bathroom bags with personal items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, etc. so they will have all their immediate needs met. Thank you for the generosity you have shown us as we here at Isaiah 117 House Calhoun County look to change the way foster care begins!
I heard about this charity when reading comments in r/quilting. There was a request for quilters to provide quilts for the graduating seniors as they aged out of foster care. I volunteered to provide 5 quilts, which I have completed and will donate. I hope to donate again, if needed.
What a beautiful and unique organization! What a wonderful job they do to brighten this holiday season for these children and families. Keep up the outstanding work!
Day 1 Bags helped provide a wonderful Christmas experience for the children residing at Respite Care's Emergency Shelters by donating gifts of stuffed animals, toys, and gift cards during a Christmas Party this December. The children and our caregivers had an amazing time meeting seeing Santa, decorating cookies, and enjoying a pizza dinner!
Thank you to Day 1 Bags for making such special Christmas memories for the children with disabilities and complex medical conditions at Respite Care!
It was an honor to partner with this organization for our Season of Sharing event this year. They are making a difference in children's lives.
Day 1 Bags has been an amazing company to partner with for our Season of Sharing event! They have really done an excellent job of communicating and sharing the side of this story that we really haven't had a chance to see! So happy to work with Day 1 Bags and help put a smile on Foster Kids faces!
What an amazing organization! Thank you for all you're doing to help children experiencing hardship to feel more worthy, loved, and valued. Glad to be able to contribute to such an incredible nonprofit. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for holding and inviting us to The Jones Christmas Ranch event! Thank you for providing a sense of family for the kids at St. PJ's Children's Home. Being away from their own families during the holidays can be very difficult for them. You gave them a break from thinking about that. The children loved meeting Santa and taking pictures with him. They were so grateful for the food, gifts and gift cards provided to them. Honestly, the whole experience. The lights were a big bonus, many of the children had never seen anything like it. It brought tears of joy for some. Again, a huge THANK YOU to the Jones family, and everyone that helped put the event together. The setup and decorations were amazing! And the event ran so smoothly and in a timely manner for everyone. Thank you ALL, for your time and donations!
Thank you all for the event at The Jones Christmas Ranch! Thank you for providing an inclusive and engaging opportunity for the kids at Pathways Youth & Family Services as this provides them an opportunity to be out in their community support network. As foster children, the holidays can be difficult, but it makes it less difficult when their community comes together to provide them with a celebration to show their love and kindness. The kids have openly expressed their happiness with the amazing gifts from Day 1 Bags, Santa, taking fun pictures, and getting to enjoy all of the fun decorations that the event provided. The lights and the music were a hit! The kids really got to enjoy all of the lights at the event and were pleasantly surprised at the music that went along with the lights. The kids are already planning items for purchase with the gift cards they received and we all look forward to them being able to have some fun with those gifts back at the Center. A big Thank You to all of the wonderful Jones Ranch staff who put their time and effort into organizing this fantastic event for the children. The staff at the Ranch were completely understanding of our needs and the support we required in order to provide our children with a positive experience.
Growing up in foster care, I believed I will never be enough and I want to be invisible. I learned about your organization, looked it up, and thought this guy is young and gets it. Why is he doing this work? After following your group for quite some time, I realized the effect you all are having on others is so valuable and others need to know how we ALL need to feel connected and loved, not like trash. If I had a million dollars, I would give it to your organization. Four years ago, I received a Day 1 bag duffel , a gift card and a quilt and it made me feel “normal”, not invisible… it still looks brand new. All I can donate is $20 right now but I want someone to feel what I feel now.. I am enough and no longer invisible.
Carrying Hope Houston is so thankful to Day 1 Bags for their support of children in foster care. Day 1 has provided backpacks that we use to fill with essential supplies for children entering foster care. We are thankful for their support in completing our shared mission to better the lives of children in foster care.
I learned about Day 1 Bags many years ago but couldn't find the right time to get involved. Luckily, I was able to pitch the organization to my CEO and he immediately saw the need that Day 1 Bags fills in our community. Hunter is extremely responsive and helped us organize a bag stuffing for three different first responder organizations here in Houston, TX. I hope to bring Day 1 Bags to many of our regional offices as the service they provide to the community is much needed. Thank you for bringing dignity to all these children.
I was so pleased and appreciative when Hunter with Day 1 Bags reached out regarding providing bags for the children in our community (who we will soon serve through the Isaiah 117 House.) After receiving two large boxes of sturdy, beautifully patterned train cases, I thought about the deeper implications of these bags... how each bag will serve an important role in showing children they are valued on one of the darkest days of their lives.
Your generosity is helping us change the way foster are begins in Blairsville, Georgia. Thank you!
Day 1 Bags has been our main supplier of bags we use for Foster Care Packages when children enter the foster care system. We couldn't serve all these kids without them! The quality of bags is second to none and the communication and compassion from the staff and Hunter is amazing! We absolutely love Day 1 Bags!

Foster the Family US has used Day One bags in 3 of our locations across the country.
The quality and size of the duffle bags is far above what we expected! The ease of ordering, promptness of delivery, and effective communication has made this such a great experience!
When we deliver our Foster Care Packages to children entering foster care, especially the teens, they cannot believe they get to keep the bag. It's heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.
Day One Bags is top tier and we cannot wait to order again!!
We were blessed to discover Day 1 bags via social media. They have played an integal part in our non-profit in Ohio by providing bags to kids in foster care. They are always so willing to work with us to make sure that we have the bags we need. They do great work and we are blessed to be partnered with them.
I work for a nonprofit in San Antonio that acts as an emergency shelter and general residential program for children in foster care who have complex medical conditions. When the program team came to me and said that we were low on duffle bags for our children as they left us, I knew exactly where to turn!
When our children come to us, they have experienced significant mental and/or physical trauma, and our ultimate goal is to provide a healing space where they can feel safe, loved, and cared for. When our children leave us, they take with them everything they received while in our care, including a life book of memories from their stay, including photos from birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions. They receive new clothing, daily use items, and gifts. When they move on to the next part of their journey, packing these items in a trash bag is never an option.
We are so grateful to Day 1 Bags for providing the dignity, respect, and care that our children deserve.
As a non-profit serving youth and families experiencing foster care, the resources day 1 bags offers is amazing! The backpacks, duffle bags, and other supplies we have been able to provide to children in our programs because of Day 1 bags has been incredible. Their support is greatly appreciated, and is immensely impactful in serving youth in foster care.
Your kindness has touched our hearts deeply at Isaiah 117 House in Greenville, SC. The train case bags you've generously provided for our local kids entering foster care are more than just bags – they're symbols of care, compassion, and a reminder that they're never alone.
The impact goes beyond the practicality of storing hygiene products. Your thoughtfulness and the beauty of these bags truly affect how these children feel on a pivotal day in their lives. Your support and the support of many who rally around them bring immense joy, lifting their spirits and reminding them that they're cherished and remembered.
Your partnership in changing the way foster care begins is invaluable. You're helping us create a brighter, more hopeful start for these kids, and for that, we're endlessly grateful. #changingthewayfostercarebegins
With heartfelt appreciation,

I was so glad to see a post about this charity last year, when I found the opportunity to make a quilt for a graduating senior in foster care. I will be making another one this year, and hope to contribute more in future years. From the communications I receive, I can tell how much the leadership of this organization cares about its purpose and the people it serves.
We received bags from this organization that really helped us! We help children on removal day as they enter foster care, and these bags will help us change the way foster care begins! Such a blessing for these kiddos! Thank you Day 1 Bags! :)
Day 1 bags has been such a blessing to our non-profit organization, KCMO Angels! We have been able to help local children in our community for going on 3 years because of this wonderful organization, including back packs needed for school, duffel bags for foster youth transitioning to new placements so they don't have to pack their belongings in trash bags, and we just received train cases that we are going to give teens filled with hygiene products! For next year, I ordered more back packs but also the personal documents bag for our older youth in our mentorship program as they begin tackling the tasks of obtaining their own personal documents, college and job applications etc. so they have a perfect little bag to store folders for their personal documents in! For the bags we received and gave out this year for our Back to School event, we got this feedback from one of our mentors that was able to take it and fill it with some additional school items and take to her mentee, "I think the backpacks are a great thing for Dare to Dream. I think the kids feel loved and that other people care about them. I'm not sure if this is the first year to do it, but it was GREAT!". We definitely look forward to utilizing this amazing resource every year!!
This tiny but mighty charity works to bring the gift of a hand made quilt to teens in foster care who are graduating from high school. I'm delighted to be part of this effort by making a couple of quilts each year for them. This is a milestone for them in too many ways as they leave the foster care system and the home they have been in most recently. The picture is of the year unfinished quilt I'm donating this year.

I made quilts for Day 1 Bags to present to foster kids graduating from high school in 2022 and 2023. I can't imagine how adrift these teens must feel as they age out of the system and move from the relative security of high school to the unknown life of an adult. A quilt can offer something soft to hold on to and add a hand crafted item to their new home. It's a great idea and a great way to share a talent with someone who needs to know someone cares about them.

This quilt is beautiful! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and support you have given us, we are so appreciative!
Love this non profit!!! Working with the kids in foster care is very important. I donated some zipper pouches and will donate again in the future as time permits.
We are blown away by the generosity of the Day 1 Bags team! We recently received a massive shipment of duffel bags, drawstring bags, lunch boxes and diaper bags. We use all of these items to provide for children entering foster care. The quality of the bags is unmatched; I truly believe by providing NEW, quality items tells a child how they are viewed as a person. YOU are worthy of having new items and YOU are seen!
Thank you again, Day 1 Bags!

It is organizations like Day 1 Bags that help change the trajectory for children in foster care. By only providing quality products, and spreading the message of #dignitynottrash, Day 1 allows children in foster care to be seen as precious for who they are and not for the situation they are in, through not fault of their own. Foster the Family Baltimore is so grateful to receive adorable diaper bags, extra large duffle bags and more from Day 1 so we can pack them with necessities, which our volunteers bring to the foster family's doorstep. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for your impact and we know our Georgia teens need to feel the dignity they deserve.
Thank you so much for your donation of bags! They have helped youth aging out of foster care have a way to carry their belongings. Thanks so much!
I have a family friend whose daughter is volunteering for this non-profit. As I have learned more about them, it was impressive to see that Day 1 Bags provides activity packs to policemen and first responders so they can calm foster care youth experiencing trauma, domestic violence, or removal from a home. These packs plus the duffel bags they give them to transport their belongings are such a wonderful way to help children in need.
I help run The Moses Closet in Tomball, Tx. We are a 501c3 that provides much needed essentials to foster/adoptive/kinship families for the children that they welcome into their home (everything from beds to car seats to toys and clothes). Day1Bags just sent us 30 brand new duffle bags to gift to new foster and kinship children as they are welcomed into their new home, ensuring that they have the dignity of a high quality and brand new bag from day one for their belongings. When I opened the boxes, my eyes were full of tears. What an incredible gift for our organization to support these children! Thank you Day1Bags!!!
As the COO for Divinity Family Services, a nonprofit adoption and foster care agency covering a large portion of the state, but starting out in Kerrville, Texas, I've had the opportunity to watch Day 1 Bags start as a project and blossom into the wonderful organization that it has become. Most folks may have gone on to other things after the initial project ran its course. Hunter and his team deserve many thanks and much praise for being there for children and families at a time of their greatest need. And now to see the multistate reach is quite astounding.
Divinity Family Services mainly serves kinship families/children and we are so very grateful to Day1 Bags and their donations/blessings to our families over the past few years. Thank you for your amazing support in helping these children heal from their trauma!
My name is Brittany Seaman and I am the founder of the Bandera Foster Closet in Bandera Tx. We are a small rural community 40 minutes outside of San Antonio. We serve foster youth, grandparents raising their grandchildren and low income youth in the rural communities that surround us. As a foster mother myself, I saw first hand the lack of resources in our communities. Hunter and Day 1 Bags played a pivotal role in helping our small non profit grow through their generous donation of NEW backpacks and duffel bags for the children we serve. The quality was wonderful. The support we have received from Day 1 Bags as a growing non profit is immeasurable.
We are so thankful for this fantastic organization!
I initially had the pleasure of meeting Hunter and his team while volunteering at an event at Jones Christmas Ranch with 100 Women of the Hill Country for Boysville. I was immediately impressed not only with the maturity and professionalism, but also the genuine care and attention to detail everyone with the organization had. I've since seen them around town doing what they do and making a difference in kids' lives. What a wonderful group of people doing such great and necessary work in our community. Keep up the fantastic work!
I was able to help donate bears for the bags. My friend Sue reached out and I was able to get donations. I was happy to be a part of this for children that don't have a bag to put their things in and they were able to get something to live on. I have also seen the other organizations that Day 1 has helped. Happy to be a small part of it and look forward to more donations to help children.
I have worked with Day 1 Bags many times in my NCL Chapter and not only is it a fun and easy way to make a difference, it is a task that really brings people together. We all laugh and give each other ideas and have fun with it.
I am writing on behalf of Sue Stringer, a close personal friend I met through the Wreath Community. She, through Mary & Martha, has allowed me the opportunity to participate in Day 1 Bags from the beginning of her journey with Mary & Martha. What a fabulous organization dedicated to children all over the world. The Lord called us to serve and to help... Sue made it possible for myself and others to participate in the Bears for Children after the horrifying Uvalde shootings, once again with the Beyond the Bag courtroom adoptions, and again with the Day 1 Bags for the children of Lahaina after the natural disaster tore through their community. The Lord placed Sue in my life so I could work through her to fulfill God's promise that he will never leave you alone in time of need whether it be a social disaster, a natural disaster, or the blessing of a new family. I believe we also provided bears to a police department for domestic calls where children were involved. It has been my pleasure and God's work call, to work with Sue and provide these small gestures of hope and joy to so many. Sue Stringer is a true disciple and I'm so grateful & thankful God put her in my life to assist her in goals! All the glory to God.
Thank you to Day 1 bags for assisting one of my foster family's and children as they were preparing for transition to a new placement. The children appreciated the new luggage and backpacks! The family was also appreciative of the additional assistance. The process to order the luggage and backpacks was very user friendly and I was provided with the pickup information immediately. Day 1 bags made it very easy from start to finish in obtaining the luggage for the children and family.

I feel so very blessed to help with this amazing non-profit and I feel very proud to say that it’s founder, Hunter Beaton, is a young man from our town. Every single child should feel valued, and the motto “dignity not trash” truly epitomizes what Day 1 Bags does for foster youth.
Day 1 Bags is an incredible organization that has helped many kids in the foster system. Our family has been involved since Fall of 2020. We actually heard the founder, Hunter Beaton speak at an event for 8th grade students in the Boerne area. The Dignity, not Trash slogan really says it all about what this organization does for kids. We have helped with everything from folding shirts, to stuff bags, to providing items to go in the bags. Keep up the great work for the children in our area that need you most and thank you for all you do!

Day 1 Bags is a non-profit founded by a guy from my hometown. I am inspired buoys drive to make a difference in the foster care youth that is graduating.
I have volunteered with this non-profit on several occasions writing graduation cards to be included in the Day 1 Bags. It makes me proud to be a small part of this organization that makes a difference to other youth.
As a senior in high school myself, I have enjoyed learning what Day 1 Bags does for teens aging out of the foster system. Thank you for ensuring they are better equipped to start they adult life.
I came to know about this amazing local non-profit through my bank. The founder was looking for a local bank to help with gift cards to include in the Day 1 Bags. This prompted research into this organization and I was amazed at the back story of the founder and why he felt compelled to great this non-profit. I am been impressed ever since and am so proud of the work they do for our foster care teens.
I have been volunteering with Day 1 bags in Boerne, TX for years now. It has been a great experience coming together with people in our community and providing food for those kids that may not have a meal that weekend. With everything being more expensive, we have seen the number of kids needing food assistance increase significantly. Many hands and hearts come together every week to provide food and comfort to these families. I truly believe in God providing for people, not the government. This charity is truly community driven that helps the child that sits in the desk next to my daughter or plays football with my son. These kids are near and dear to our hearts and it is a blessing to provide food to them every week.
As a member of National Charity League, a philanthropy organization that has partnered with Day 1 Bags, it’s amazing to see lots of dedicated volunteers and members of this organization always making things happen!
I am Sky Williams, a psychology Major attending Lonestar College Cyfair. I obtained a backpack, it was very nice of them considering many of us may not be able to get these resources on our own. I am grateful.
One of our family friends’ daughter volunteering for this organization. I love that they provide duffel bags to foster children who are sometimes only offered trash bags as an alternative when moving from one home to the next. What a small, yet important gift
We have a family friend with a daughter volunteering her time to help this non profit. She was explaining to us how one of their programs involves celebrating graduating seniors who have been in and out of the foster care system throughout their lives. Day 1 Bags gifts them a bag stuffed with all kinds of blankets, gift cards, water bottles, and all kinds of goodies to transition into adulthood in a positive way and help them start off on the right foot. This is incredible, keep up the great work!
BIG shout out to Day 1 Bags! Our oldest daughter, a high school senior, recently started volunteering for this incredible organization and we’ve been so super pleased with all the amazing work they’re doing for foster children and at-risk youth, plus all that she’s learning about philanthropy and non-profit work, and how kind and genuinely caring the CEO/founder (Hunter) and his team are! They’re taking the time to teach her valuable, real-life volunteer work experience, as well as some of the behind-the-scenes decision-making and thoughtful intention that goes into everything they do! From the high quality bags they source and deliver, to the stuffed animals they provide to children on court days, to the activity packs they give to police officers to help kids involved in a traumatic event like a home removal, the list just keeps going-and-going as to all the love and support they provide to a community of children who deserve it so much! I love their Adopt A Senior initiative, providing bags of useful gifts to foster care high school seniors to celebrate their successes and I’m thrilled to hear, most recently, that they’ll be hosting a Halloween 5k at the end of October as a fundraiser and to create awareness! I can’t sing their praises loudly enough! If you’re reading this post, I highly recommend this organization and I highly suggest that you decide how to plug in to all the wonderful ways they’re making our world a better place! Keep up the great work, Day 1 Bags! And “thank you” for sharing this incredible experience with my daughter at her impressionable, youthful age! Thank you! :)

Thank you of the very thoughtful review, Lynda. Marin came out of the blue to us from the Texas Exes group referral. From the beginning, she eager to make things happen for youth in foster care in any way. We offered her all types of initiatives and work we needed and what does she go for?? The most difficult one with the highest challenge! Fortunately, she was able to realize that the goal to raise $65,000 in 2 months is very difficult combined with her tough senior schedule. That takes maturity! So, she chooses another difficult task which is spreading awareness about the youth in foster care journey. Marin has amazed us with her ability to get people who know nothing about us, learn about what we do, where we campaign, struggles youth deal with while in foster care, and then finally, get someone to write a review that is beyond "Great organization" but authentic feedback about what they learned. Marin has a great future in front of her and we are so incredibly grateful!
We heard about this non profit through a family friend I think it’s great how they are providing bags at such a crisis. Such a great cause.
Our family friend has a daughter volunteering for this organization. She has been telling me about the loving services they provide for foster children. Keep up the great work!
A friend I play volleyball with has an older sister working for this non profit and she was telling me that they are hosting a halloween hustle fun run in October! As an athlete, I think that’s a cool way to do a community fundraiser and use the money to help at-risk youth.
One of my friends has an older sister who volunteers for this non profit, and she was telling me about how they provide back packs to foster care children for their belongings and school supplies as well as duffel bags to help them when they change foster homes. This is an important way to show these kids that someone cares about them, and provide them dignity and pride!
I’ve been involved with volunteerism and helping others my entire life. My cousin in Texas is working for this organization and it sounds amazing! What a wonderful idea to provide luggage and backpacks to foster children who are being moved from home to home! Keep up the good work!
Good to see someone helping to bring some dignity to kids going through foster care. Every little kindness helps to humanize the experience.
My granddaughter is doing some volunteer for this organization. She told me about the gifts of quilts that are used for foster care graduates. Thumbs up to the quilters that supply these quilts.
My granddaughter just told me about this non-profit. This is a great way to help foster children in need. I'm so glad there are kind people to make a difference in children's lives. Keep up the good work.
After learning about this organization I think Day 1 Bags is incredible. Such a great job giving back to foster children and making them feel a little less alone. I love the motto “Dignity not Trash!”
My cousin is doing some volunteer work for Day 1 Bags and told me about this organization! I’m so proud of the work she’s doing and more importantly, the work Day 1 Bags is doing for foster care children! I live in San Antonio so it was cool to see that they were founded in Boerne, Texas, a nearby community.
A girl I used to go to high school with let me know about Day 1 Bags. As I looked through their social media and website, I noticed that there is a group of quilters who make hand made blankets for every graduating senior as part of several gifts they are given to celebrate graduation. This is an amazing way to celebrate children who have grown up in the foster care system!
It makes me so sad to think about any child having to carry their belongings in a trash bag. The service Day 1 Bags is providing to Foster Youth is such a blessing and a way to share Gods love to kids who need a helping hand!
This is a great non profit and such a kind thing to help foster children feel less alone. One of the best out there!!!
A girl I go to high school with told me about this non-profit she’s helping promote! When she sent me the link I saw that they’re hosting a Halloween Fun Run to raise money for the bags they give to foster children. What a wonderful way to give back to high risk youth in our community!
A friend of mine recently told me that Day 1 Bags has an “Adopt a Senior program” where they provide gifts to help foster care seniors celebrate their graduation! This is such a cool idea and a great way to help these students feel involved/included and cultivate a sense of normalcy!
I saw the state of Texas passed new legislation and will now be the first state to mandate all youth in foster care deserve dignity not trash! Very thankful to our governor for signing this bill and congrats Day 1 Bags!
I saw on Facebook how Day 1 Bags collected stuffed animals to give to children that have to show up at court while things are being sorted out. I think that is amazing because court can be a very scary environment to a small child.
I just learned about this nonprofit and I am so impressed! The bags are a small gesture that will make a huge impact on these kids.
A teenager I volunteer with is involved with this non-profit & I love what they’re doing to make a difference in the lives of other kids

I just heard about this organization from a friend and I really love the mission! This non-profit has a great vision and I know so many children will benefit from Day 1 Bags. Providing bags to these children and students might seem like something small, but it truly helps a child create a sense of normalcy and feel less alone during such a challenging time. I’m impressed, so happy to see kind people out there in the world making an impact!
One of my classmates told me about this non-profit and I am incredibly impressed! All these kids want is for an easy transition between homes and with this it will truly make a difference for them
This is an amazing project and hope this goes places!!
As a young child I always was blessed to have memories of my parents giving me a brand new backpack to bring to school, daycare or a hike etc. With this nonprofit we are able to give these kids these same memories.
This is an incredible nonprofit helping children all over to feel more comfortable when going through such an awful experience.

Great organization. I work with children with challenges everyday and I believe Day 1 Bags is very targeted at helping with the tough transitions of foster care. I really appreciate the work Day 1 Bags is doing.
I have recently learned about Day 1 Bags from a friend, and I am so touched by their vision! Such an amazing group doing so much good for those precious children in the foster care system.
As a retired educator, I have experienced working with children in foster care. This organization’s mission is a reminder that a simple thing, such as a piece or luggage or bag, can help make a difficult situation just a bit better.
Imagine the fear of a child who is removed from the people who were supposed to care for and love them. A real bag can be one small gift to send a message that they are worthy of kindness. Hunter and crew- thank you for seeing an opportunity to instill a different narrative. Please support this organization!
Day 1 Bags provides a simple gift with great blessings. Thank you for bringing awareness to this seemingly small thing that truly makes such a big difference!
I am struggling financially and was unable to pay for school supplies. Although the giveaway was over advisor reached out to everyone . She asked if there was anyone in need of supplies. I replied back to her and she immediately contacted me for details of pick up. Thank you so much.
I have been working with Day 1 Bags for over 6 years. I am the current President of the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards which is represented by 194 active counties throughout Texas. Day 1 Bags has been a "Super Hero" for the children we serve throughout the State of Texas. They have provided bags for us on many occasions. Hunter Beaton, their founder was awarded our "Champion For Children's Award" about 3 years ago for his continued work with Foster Children throughout our State. This is an amazing organization with tremendous vision for the future care of Children throughout Texas and several other States.

As the executive director of a youth service organization, I know how important it is for our youth to feel prepared and ready for school. We were blessed to receive a mesh backpack from a partnership with our local Rainbow room which had extra to spare. These 48 bags are now on the backs of 48 youths in the Permian Basin. All of the youth were able to attend school with a new bag full of supplies. Thank You!

This will be my third year making blanket for the graduating seniors. Each year, seniors who are in foster care are given a handmade quilt, among other gifts to celebrate their accomplishment of graduating high school. It truly is a work of love and the Day 1 Bags team is amazing guiding us through every step. This organization truly has a heart for every child in foster care to give them dignity in the most difficult circumstances.

I love participating with Day 1 Bags! As a quilter who has made and donated to their quilts for seniors program it warms my heart to see the hard work Hunter and the team put forth to see no child is forgotten. I really feel like they live the motto “Dignity not trash” with every interaction, communication and opportunity to be involved. I am so lucky to have heard about this great organization!

day1bags 09/05/2023
Thank you so much for these kind words, we appreciate the support!
I read about Day 1 Bags shortly after the organization posted about a need for quilters. I immediately signed up to make a quilt for a graduating senior who was aging out of the foster care program. Little did I know how much I was going to learn about children in foster care and all their needs as well as the people who run this great organization. Everyone involved have the biggest hearts and a love that knows no boundaries! I helped with the booth at the International Quilt Show and through those 5 days met more quilters who have rallied around the cause to help these kids have something of their own. Something to keep forever. This is an organization about caring, dignity and love.

Day 1 Bags is an amazing organization! I work with foster kids through Saint Francis Ministries and we had so many requests for backpacks for the start of school. Day 1 Bags donated 100 backpacks to our back to school event for the kids we work with! Thank you so much for helping us make sure these kids had a great start to the school year.

day1bags 09/05/2023
This is heartwarming to hear! I am glad we could contribute to these children starting the school year strong! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review!
Let me tell you about Day1 Bags!! They have been incredible! The first year I reached out to them, I filled out the application and within days received 200 leather duffel bags, that Gracefully Planted, my own 501C3 used to give Christmas gifts to the Foster kids we support in the state of Texas! They are constantly adding new campaigns, like adopt a senior, something that we are considering doing as well.
What an example of Gods love they are to children in the foster care system! My favorite endeavor is the Diginity not trash- where people carry their belongings around in a trash bag all day. The idea is that someone will ask, “why are you carrying that trash bag”? This opens up the conversation to talk about what children in the system experience when they are being removed from their home. It’s tragic and heartbreaking and Day 1 bags provides these kids with an excellent quality duffel bag or backpack, giving back some dignity with this simple act of kindness and compassion!
I truly can’t say enough about the example and light they bring to a world full of darkness!
Thank you Day1 Bags for supporting us and the community!

day1bags 09/01/2023
This is so heartwarming to read! I am so glad Day 1 Bags was able to help you out and we are so appreciative of the support.
So proud of this organization and what they do for Foster kiddos and at-risk youth in Texas and beyond! From the beginnings as an Eagle Scout project, to now serving so, so many children across multiple states, what a treasured blessing is Day 1 Bags! As an adopted child, myself, I could have very easily grown up in Foster Care, and as such, this organization and others that serve Foster Children, hold a special place in my heart. I will continue to contribute to them and hopefully work more with Foster Youth in some way in the future. May God continue to bless D1B and the work they do!

Day 1 Bags is absolutely amazing! Their mission to help children and youth is one that blesses HUNDREDS or possibly thousands of children and youth!!
We serve children in the foster care system... most of these children do not have new, clean, fun backpacks to start the new school year with. Day 1 Bags provided bags so that our kiddos can feel like everyone else... so they won't be singled out for being different... they can feel more like those around them.
Most of us don't understand how being "different" impacts the mental health and wellbeing of vulnerable children. These bags may seem like a "small thing" to most of us, but it's important and very significant to them.
THANK YOU Day 1 Bags for your service... for caring for our children... for making normalcy more real and helping our children get off to a positive start in a new school year!
In addition to providing wonderful bags, they are fast to communicate and fast to respond. We had our bags within just a about 10 days. AMAZING!!!

Day 1 Bags is ALWAYS the first to respond in the midst of any need or crisis. Our nonprofit through the years has always needed backpacks for our youth, bags for our pantry or even just gifts/supplies for different drives and community events. Day 1 has never hesitated to quickly respond when there is a need. We know we can always count on Hunter and his amazing team. We are so grateful for this amazing nonprofit and all they do to help thousands of youth throughout Texas and beyond!!

day1bags 09/05/2023
Thank you so much for these kind words of support, it means so much to us!
Our 4th and 5th graders at VBS partnered with Day 1 bags to fill 300 bags, write personal notes and learn about children coming into the foster system. It was one of the best things for our kids to learn about and be apart of. It helped them be aware of others and it encouraged them to look around themselves and to see where they could make a difference. We hope to do it again next year!

day1bags 09/05/2023
We are so appreciative of you spreading awareness and sending us support! Thank you for sharing your story and taking the time to write us a review.
I coordinate the Rainbow Rooms in several counties in west Texas (as an employee of the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services). We often need bags for the emergency resource rooms as we have children come into CPS/foster care. Day 1 Bags has been a wonderful source so that we can achieve our mutual goal - NO trash bags! Once we are involved, we are able to ensure that bags are provided as needed for the children in our care. The nonprofit organizations that make up the Rainbow Room family appreciate this assistance in our shared mission.

day1bags 09/05/2023
Our work would never be possible without people like you! Thank you for all you do for these children!
Graduating high school was such a relief for me because going through cps I never thought I would be able to. And then time came for graduation and moving into my own place and I was very scared on how I was going to make it on my own. Day 1 Bags helped provide me with some essenttials to really keep me going until I could get stable.

Hello,
My name is Alex. I wanted to say "Thank you" for the gifts cards, my day one bag and all the awesome support you all have given me as I move towards my new journey and next step in my life. The celebration is one I wil never forget. I felt so much love from all that attended and surrounded me at Rain Forest cafe Katy TX.

Aww this is so sweet! We are so happy we could help you out and excited to see the things you accomplish! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a kind review!
I have made quilts for these seniors for the last two years. My sons were adopted through the foster care system and came to us with one box of clothes between the two of them. This organization and all that they do is near and dear to my heart. I pray they will be able to continue to help seniors as they graduate and age out of the system for many, many years.

day1bags 09/05/2023
Thank you so much for sharing your story, and thank you for the kind words of support!
I have made quilts for two years now. I feel honored to do this for these young adults. Before I retired, I worked as a clinical social worker - one who placed children into foster care when necessary. I remember the trash bags of clothes and belongings, and I remember how unprepared most teens were when they “aged out”. I am so happy that efforts now extend to these teens, getting them actually ready to be out on their own. Making a quilt for a teen is the least that I can do, and one small step to saying these teens/ young adults matter

day1bags 09/05/2023
We are so honored to have you making quilts and are so appreciative of all of your work! Thank you for the kind review!
I feel very happy and excited to have graduated. I have achieved one of my life goals. I plan to attend school in the fall at Blinn College. My goal is to transfer to Texas A&M School of Nursing. The gifts provided are greatly appreciated! I’m so thankful for all that you have done for us.

I am very excited and proud that I was able to graduate at the age of 16. I plan to attend barber college to become a licensed barber. The gifts means so much to me, and I am so grateful for everything that I have received. Thank you for your help and support!
This organization provided Foster Care youth with some amazing quilts and bags. Most of our youth that come into care do not have luggage and are using trash bags to put their belongings in. Although most would look at this as something small, but to these youth it meant everything to them. To them, it was more than just a bag or quilt, they now have something of their own and brand new. When the youth received their bag, they were so grateful and appreciative. Thanks Day 1 bags for the donation and helping our foster youth.
I not only have made a quilt or two within this scope of what this organization does, I volunteered to be the regional coordinator for our area and the quilt gifts that are created. These kiddos are precious, regardless of their circumstances, and they need to know that there are people that want to love on them with zero strings attached. Day 1 Bags does that. We don’t have to know the child to love the child. The work being done behind the scenes to make all of this come together is amazing. Kudos to Hunter and team for all of the work they put in to keep up going all year long.
I heard about Day1Bags on a FaceBook group for Texas quilters. As a relatively new quilter and retired, I was looking for ways to help people with my new passion, so signed on for the 2022 graduates. The story behind Day1Bags spoke to me and so I continued in 2023 and will do for as many years as I am able. The children have been through so much and to get to this point of graduation needs to be celebrated as much as possible. I'm so glad I found this nonprofit and give back to deserving teens.
I am so grateful to the way that Day 1 Bags has supported our foster care support non profit Austin Angels over the last several years. From helping out with backpacks as a back to school sponsor, to providing duffel bags for our spring and summer break camps, Day 1 Bags has always been so amazing at making sure we have new bags for every child who needs one! Knowing they are there as a resource for us helps tremendously in planning our events and helping our families and youth know how supported they are by the broader community beyond just our team.
My story started when my then Foster grandchild came to my daughter’s home at only 18 months. She probably thought “Who are these people that don’t look like me”? She was happy, joyful, silly, sweet, caring, but yet scared, unsure, scared of noises, the dark, and people with a certain look that maybe reminded her of someone in her life. She came wearing a pair of pj’s that were way too small, a tiny back pack, a juice packet, and a pack of fruit snacks, a full diaper and a small stuffed animal. She didn’t walk very well and had to have speech therapy. She was adopted at 4 and now she is my Forever Granddaughter. She is thriving in school and ballet, calls me Mimi, she hugs me, tells me she loves me, asks me to spend the night, loves to sew with me, cook with me and do whatever I am doing. I love her more than I would have ever thought possible. She is my Princess!
So when I heard about this group that makes quilts for graduating Foster Students there was no doubt in my mind what I needed to do! I love quilting and thought how nice it would be for these young adults to be able to have something someone took the time to make for them, to snuggle under and have something nice for their bed.
I could have been in the foster care system, In 1972 my life changed forever, I am a surviver of domestic violence,my mother lost her life. I was lucky my material grandparents were brave enough to take on 3 small children and keep us together. When I saw this post last year I knew it was for me. So many good and caring people helped me to be me, I will never forget them. I want to wrap these children/young adults in a hug and say you matter, you are important and if you wish it, dream it, you can achieve it.
I am one of the many quilters that have joined forces to provide quilts for Texas, Missouri and Arkansas. Why did I join? Why not? Who doesn’t want the opportunity to help a student.
I loved the opportunity to be a part of this organization, to hopefully bring joy to a foster kid and of course to make a quilt.
I grew up in a city in Missouri that had a “home”. I was so touched by this program, I reached out to them and made quilts for their seniors. I was so touched by the program, I wanted it to be in Missouri. I would love for it to be in all 50 states if possible. It is an amazing program, ministry, outreach or what ever you would like to call it. I am so proud to have been a part of this.
The idea that children brought to the foster care system do not have a dignified and personal item to carry their belongings was untenable and Day1Bags was born by Hunter Beaton.
Later, Hunter was approached about donating handmade quilts to young people graduating from school and leaving foster care. This created a partnership between quilters/sewists in Texas and Day 1 Bags. I made 2 quilts for the first year as I understand what it means to have your own “stuff”.
I made 2 quilts and 1 zipper bag during year 1. My quilters donated their quilting services as part of their gift to the young people. It was a very rewarding experience!
I volunteered to make 2 quilts because foster care is close to my heart. I know first hand these kids don't get to take much with them when they go into foster care and some move from home to home losing some of their possessions along the way. I wanted this senior to know someone cared enough to take the time and money to make this beautiful quilt just for them. My hope is they can wrap themselves with the quilt and know someone loves them. That is why I put the quote " May this quilt be an everlasting hug from me to you" on the back of the quilt, to let them know I took my time and loved making it, especially for them.

When I heard about what they wanted to do - I was all in! I fostered delinquent teenage boys for a year. Fortunately they were part of a rehabilitation program to overcome situations and improve family ties. Being a mentor family was part of that process. My daughter also became a foster parent. I have been aware of teens that age out of the foster system and their challenges, and have wished that I was able to do more. Providing a quilt was a small act of service - to let a teen know that someone cares and loves them - where ever they go in life.
I work in a public high school, and have had many students who are in foster care in my caseload. I've listened to their stories of moving from home to home and feeling like they have no one who cares about them or that no one does anything special for them. I love to sew and quilt, and I always imagine wrapping my love around the recipient of the quilts I give away. When I found out about this organization, I thought it was a way that I could help by wrapping love around a Graduating senior and letting them know that somewhere someone out there cared enough to devote the time to make some thing special for them. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what type of quilt design would be most appealing and settled on some science and math fabric, in what I hoped would be an appealing design. It was a great experience for me, and I hope the quilt brings joy to the recipient.
This was my second year to make quilts for day1bags Foster graduates. I love making quilts and I don't have a lot of people to give them to so this is a fantastic way to share my time and my love of quilting to others, especially to a group of young adults that may not have been shown a lot of love in their life.
I heard about the 2022 Senior in Foster Care quilt initiative and knew that I wanted to participate. I am a CASA volunteer and know that foster families are stretched in what they can do for each child. This organization brings together individuals and items that graduates can truly use as they transition into being independent. As a quilter being able to use my talents to help foster children is a role that I am proud of and always eager to sign up for the next year.

My first knowledge of Day1Bags was through a magazine article about Hunter and his 501c3 organization. Being a CASA volunteer, I know the struggles of children in foster care. The story of this non profit warmed my heart.
Fast forward to fall 2021, a Facebook group called Texas quilters had a post from Randall Mitchell asking if any of us would be interested in making 684 Quilts for graduating seniors in foster care. Day1Bags had contacted him about this project and it was up and going in no time!
A great organization and a great cause.
Debbie
I've made 6 quilts and quilted a few more for Day 1 Bags over the last 2 years. Being even a small part of helping these young adults is amazingly fulfilling. As long as I can, I'll keep on! Such a fabulous mission.
I am in several Facebook quilting groups. Last year one of the members posted a photo of the quilt she had made for the Day One graduation program. I loved this idea but it was too late to sign up. So I signed up to make two quilts for graduation 2023! I am from Kansas City, Mo but my friend who is originally from Tyler, Texas agreed to deliver the quilts as she frequently goes back to visit family. We are both so thrilled to be a small part of this wonderful program! I will definitely sign up again!
As a quilt shop owner, I find I actually have little time to sew but this cause really spoke to me because I know how it feels to be “released” to the big scary adult world without much support. I wanted to be a part of helping these young adults feel loved and supported as they start on their new journey into adulthood. I’ve made 3 quilts now between the last 2 years and plan to continue as long as I’m able. I love what this charity is doing for these kids.
I read about Day 1 in a news article, and was intrigued. Our youngest child was adopted from Texas foster care. She was 10, and had some stories to tell. I found the website, and signed up to make a quilt. I shared with a friend and we worked together. Another friend quilted it.
It is unfortunate that many kids in foster care carry their things in grocery sacks, and age out of the system with few personal items. Day 1 gives dignity by providing bags like everyone else carries. For those graduating, it expands to include backpack, pouch of goodies, and a handmade quilt. Working with the volunteers has given me new friendships, and strengthened old friendships.
The new friend who quilted it spent some time in foster care in her youth.

I made my first two quilts for Day 1 Bags in the 22-23 year. For the past several years, I have been led to use my needle for good whenever I can, and this was a great opportunity. I can only imagine the struggles some of these young people have experienced, and I know the comfort a handmade quilt can provide. I am so proud to have been a small part of this great endeavor!
I had heard of Day One Bags and was so inspired by the young founder with a vision. When I read about the senior quilt project I knew it was a perfect way to share my talent and love of quilting. What an easy way to give and it means so much! It warms me to think of a now young adult snuggling in my handiwork, and I send good wishes and prayers to all the recipients each day. Kudos to all the organizers and blessings to all the foster children whose lives they have touched. I look forward to participating in the years to come. Jo Mrvichin
I am always looking for giving opportunities that makes a difference. I am a quilter and I have made 4 quilts in the past 2 years for Day 1 Bags and im excited to continue. These graduates need to know in a very physical and personal way that we care about them and their future. What's more personal than a hand made quilt... Made with love?
Heard about donating quilts for Day 1 Bags last year, I made two quilts for 2022 and two quilts for 2023. I have a great niece who my niece and nephew fostered for a couple of years before they could adopt her. Her adoption was in 2020, right at the start of the pandemic so no one could go to her adoption day, but I still get teary eyed when I see the video. I will definitely be making more quilts for this heart warming opportunity!
I found out about Day 1 Bags through a quilting group on Facebook. A call was made to gift quilts to those aging out and graduating high school and I felt drawn to be a part of that gift. Every child should feel valued and special at that point in their lives and my time was worth the effort to help make that a reality. I hope each graduate feels the love stitched in each quilt.
Am so thankful for what day 1 bags have given me and done for me and how the pals has taught me so many things my years in foster care they are truly the best with blue Sundays help.
My story has been very difficult but with the help of God and all the people who have helped me, my graduation has been a great step in my life.
My name is Sherlyn Alba Im 18 years old I was in and out of foster care since I was 2 years old I aged out in April and went to live with my grandma. I was in a abusive home with my parents but thank you that’s a little bit about my story.
I am a Children's Service Worker for Children's Division and I have 2 seniors that just graduated high school. Both were very surprised and fill with joy when I presented them with the wonderful bags of recognition. they loved everything in them and each item they pulled out brought a bigger smile to their face. This is a great project! Keep spreading the joy as Love is why God put us all here. I have no doubt that these promising teenagers will pay it forward in the future.
They helped with all the items I needed to be able to live a comfortable life as I transition out of high school, into college. It means a lot to know I have people who still care even after I aged out of foster care.

Day 1 Bags has been instrumental in our work with youth who have a lived experience of being in foster care. We have not only been able to provide high quality bags of goodies but we have been able to distribute their BEAUTIFUL planners. The reaction from the youth who have received the planners has been beautiful. They are able to focus on their goals in an achievable way.
The best part about Day 1 is how they personalize the experience - they will meet with you and see where your goals are and what you would like to do with the bags. Then they will go to great strides to make that happen. Their excitement is contagious as they discuss how each bag tells a story and plays a huge part in someone's success and dignity. They take great care to ensure each manufacturer they partner with guarantees a high quality bag. Do not hesitate to reach out to this amazing team.
I feel good about graduating, especially because I never thought I’d get this far in life. My future plans are to go to college next year at Weatherford college, for criminal justice and social work. The graduation gifts mean a lot to me, it means people are proud of me for getting this far, and are encouraging me to keep going. Tapanga Trombly
Graduating school was good and scary for me. It was good because I was already finishing school but also scary because I would have to get a job and do adults things. The graduation gift mean a lot to me because I can by myself a graduation gift. My future plan is to finish college and start my own construction business.

Hi! In my future I want to be a doctor! I have everything set already to live that dream. Graduation gifts to me our out of the heart and are funding goals to be accomplished.

Graduation is a scary thing for me, it makes me realize that pretty soon,I'll be out on my own ,but from the generous donations I feel more prepared stepping into my adult life - Senecca
I really enjoyed the bags and my plans after highschool are to try and go to college and try it to see if I like to experience new things
Graduating is scary, to be honest. I feel like I missed many opportunities that other kids had. I don't feel ready at all. But I'm glad I rode through highschool so easily for the most part. And thanks to these wonderful gifts and opportunities I have a head start with the next step of my life that I'm so anxious towards. It makes it just a bit less scary, especially considering the fact that I want to pursue some sort of acting as a career.
This program has helped me a lot and it makes me feel like I am not alone and that there are people out there that are willing to help me. I really appreciate everything they did for me.
I’m a foster kid on my way to graduation a whole year early I’m so excited to see where life takes me. David Redmon

Hi! I just wanted to say that receiving the Day 1 bags along with everything else was outstanding. My whole face lit up being able to see all the nice things we would receive. Just being able to attend this was awesome. Very thankful that I got to experience the opportunity and decided to come! Thank you

I have a plan to go to a SIL, called Carrie Belle. Although I have not received my bag yet, I am excited to get it. I plan to further my education in Cosmetology. I plan to use the gift card for new home items because I am moving to a SIL.
Graduating high school, is something that seemed far off for me. I didn't think that i would get there. This gift means everything to be, it's going to help me accomplish the big goals i now have for my future. I want to be a nurse!

Hi I’m senior my name is Yanique I’m in foster care receiving these bags during our graduation party was amazing. They came with everything I would need for college dorm or apartment. That stress of everything is at ease. Thank you so much.
I’m so glad I’m able to say I’m done with school it has been a rough high school experience but not just that just the beginning of this year I was counted as a sophomore because I was so behind I planned on dropping out when I had turned eighteen but I was told I was going to have to come back next school year even if I tried so I showed everyone and I was a senior when we came back from Christmas break and at the moment I’m done I just have to show up to graduate so I don’t believe in anybody saying there is no way
Thank you so much Day 1 Bags! The bags that you sent are going to be wonderful gifts to the children we serve in foster care here at CASA for KIDS. By sending us nice bags, it will help our kids get away from the stereotype of foster kids moving with their belongings in a black trash bag. This will help increase their self-esteem and overall well-being. So again, thank you!

Thank you to Day 1 Bags for your generosity towards our upcoming GPCO Health-Fair & Back to School community outreach program. Day 1 is fantastic!! One of the colleges that I work with through our organization, Operation: Achieve Independence, requested bags for their former foster college graduates. We ordered the bags last week and they got here today!! It was a quick process and everything came in perfect condition.
I 100% recommend Day 1 bags.
Hi everyone, my name is Erica I grew up in Boerne Texas but is originally from the city of San Antonio. I come here share a little about me. I come here wanted to let everyone know that I grew up in the foster care system from the time I was 3 years old until I turned 18 years old. During my youth I remember being one of those foster kids that where moving around from foster homes to group homes because of the trauma that I experienced when I was just 3 years old. As a former foster youth herself I remember times where I was moved around and I personally wasn't allowed to take all my personal belongings with me everywhere I went. I was that girl who had to walk around with a trash bag and no biological parents.
I come forwarded wanting to say thanks to Day 1 Bags for the work that you are doing to the children that are in foster care. This nonprofit organization did not exist during my time in care and for this profit organization to exist now I am happy to know that people do care about the youth who are at risk and for those that have been abused and neglected.

Thank you for sharing your story Erica! We are so grateful to see you are happy now and we are here to help you.
Hunter and his team at Day 1 Bags have had a tremendous impact on the students of Bandera County. Over the past few years, Day 1 bags has partnered with the Back to School Bash hosted in Lakehills, Texas by donating hundreds of quality backpacks that students receive free of charge. We are so grateful for Day 1 Bags!
We have been blessed by Day 1 Bags at Clearfork Academy in Fort Worth Texas. We are a residential treatment center for adolescents and often the young people don't arrive with adequate bags to return home with when they leave. Through this donation we are able to provide them with a backpack or duffels as they transition home. It has been a blessing to be bale to provide these young people with a final goodbye present as they head home.
Thank you Day 1 Bags for this gift.

Thank you, Day 1 Bags, for your generous gift of backpacks!!! We appreciate your continued support! Through your donation we were able to provide backpacks to over 100 children in 2022. You are continuing to make a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. Tonya Fuller FBCE
Hello, my name is CeCe and I am a FREED TEXAS scholar. I want to say thank you to Day 1 Bags for everything they do for the state of Texas. Thank you for blessing my daughter and son on graduation day
This nonprofit has enabled our nonprofit group to bless over 600 kids with backpacks during our annual Back To School Bash. It just couldn't happen without Day 1 Bags and the high quality backpacks they provide. Kudos to Day 1 Bags!
Hunter and Day 1 Bags has donated both bags and teddy bears to our foster care agency. This non profit is a huge benefit for our foster kiddos.
Thank you so much for all that you do.
We will continue reaching out to you for our kiddos!
In February 2022 I was watching a story on WFAA about a retired couple that had many years of quilting under their needles. As a beginner quilter I watched as they talked about an organization called Day1 Bags that they were partnering with to make quilts for those kids that were aging out of foster system. They were reaching out and challenging Quilt Guilds and individual quilters to help this wonderful nonprofit make enough quilts to give one to every senior that was graduating in the foster system. This challenge took place in October 2021 for the Seniors in May 2022. I was looking for something that I could do with my new talent. In February 2022 they already had enough quilters signed up to make the 622 quilts needed. So when they opened registration for making quilts For 2023 I signed up. So this graduation will be my first year of participating but will continue each year. This is an awesome organization that continues to grow and provide support to our Texas foster system.
I love the mission of Day1Bags and the responsible way they deal with people and resources. It is a privilege to share in their mission to support and encourage young people. Cindy D
I found a request on the Texas Quilters Facebook for quilts for foster teens that would be graduating high school and leaving the foster care system. To be able to make a quilt to gift to them makes my heart happy. I pray all the foster kids who receive quilts know they are valued by someone just for being who they are.
So many people don't realize the lack of support in the U.S. for children who "age out" of Foster Care. This fledgling organization has continued to provide more support each year for High School graduates who are pushed out into the world without the safety net of family or community. I am proud to do my small part by making a quilt, so one of these young people will have their own piece of homemade love to hug. Others provide bags, so what small means they have doesn't go into the proverbial "trash" bag as they make their way. Please help if and how you can as well.
I found Day 1 Bags at the Houston Quilt Festival and love they mission. As a former foster parent, may times they come with nothing. So sending them out with a quilt, bags and other items is great. I have long arm quilted a couple of quilts.
Clarity child guidance center could not be more thankful to have our friends at Day 1 bags by our side! They help our organization thrive tremendously! Thank you Day 1 bags!
SAM'S Kids is a local non-profit foundation that assists the economically disadvantaged or otherwise at-risk students in the Boerne ISD. We are fortunate to receive yearly help from Day 1 Bags. One of our projects, and by far the largest, is supplying backpacks and new school supplies to students in the Boerne school district who cannot otherwise afford them. We are a small non-profit; our funding is often limited. Day 1 Bags generously supplies backpacks each year for "Project Backpack." Without this help, it's doubtful that we could help as many underserved students as we do.
As a quilter, Day1bags is my favorite place to volunteer. They have clear specifications and quality requirements to make sure the recipients all get similarly sized quilts of the highest quality. As I make my quilt I think of the foster graduate recipient as my own grandchlid. It is my way of encouraging the next generation and letting them know someone cares about them. I hope it is a reward that encourages foster kids to hang in there and graduate from high school and gives them hope for their future. This is such a great idea that enables many to participate. Thanks, Hunter, for spearheading this!
Day1 Bags has been impactful in my life because I have seen how many youth have been positively affected by they’re care and generosity.
Day 1 Bags is an incredible organization! We have had several opportunities to be involved in filling duffel bags, providing items, etc. It's awesome to see the impact this organization is having on the community firsthand, and we're honored to be part of it!
Watching the impact this organization has on the community is inspiring! The dedication from the leaders, organizers and community show how truly special this non profit is!
Day 1 Bags is an amazing organization started by a local student who saw the need to give the children a more dignified experience as they enter an unknown stage of their lives. There have been numerous opportunities to volunteer and see the time and hard work this organization spends on our youth. I’m truly impressed and encourage you to look at the volunteer opportunities and get involved.
We are very grateful for Day 1 Bags! They have helped us to get ready for our 2023 Back2School Bash where we'll give out free school supplies. We are excited to work with them and hope the partnership continues for years.
This is an exceptional organization! Their backpacks are versatile, spacious and stylish. Our youth at Angel's Nest Inc. greatly appreciate having an item of such good quality.
I had a great time creating graduation cards for high school seniors. It means a lot for me to share my sentiments about how much I admire people that are in unconventional situations and still managing to succeed in life. Graduating High school is a major step in the right direction of life and I am so happy to have the opportunity to encourage these brave students through writing cards and notes. I am looking forward to volunteering with Day 1 Bags in the near future.
Day 1 Bags is an amazing organization that is providing foster youth with something of their own in a very dignified and respectful manner during a traumatic time of transition. The founder of Day 1 Bags noticed that foster youth were taking their belongings in a trash bag and decided we could do better for them. He has made it a mission of Day 1 Bags to provide them with a duffle bag or backpack for them to keep their belongings. Along with the bag, they generally receive a handful of items as they settle into their next destination as well as stuffed animal or other items to help them transition with care. In a time of feeling unstable, this organization helps foster youth have something that they know belongs to them and reminds them that there are people that care and want them to know they are important.
In a recent story, they were able to also support a young girl as she was formally adopted by a family with a special opportunity to select her own stuffed animal for adoption. The jury for the adoption consisted of 12 stuffed animals and they all unanimously voted for her adoption and the Judge was in 100% agreement. After the adoption process was finalized, she and her brother were able to adopt their own stuffed animal and received a formal certificate signed by the local judge.
What a great organization assisting youth during a time in their life of feeling unrooted yet reminded that they do matter to this world. Thank you to Day 1 Bags for serving youth.
Day 1 Bags is a wonderful organization and we are so grateful for the opportunity to be able to volunteer with them.
Day 1 bags is such a great organization to volunteer with, it is a wonderful way to support these kids and offer kind words of support. We did this by sending handwritten notes to graduating seniors. I’m so happy to contribute to their special milestone in life.
It has been a pleasure working with and volunteering for Day 1 Bags. Hunter, Paula, Haley, and the entire team are so kind and truly have foster youth’s best interests at heart in everything they do. I volunteer through a large philanthropy organization and we often tackle big projects for Day 1 Bags. We have filled backpacks with teddy bears and various other items, we have written graduation cards for hundreds of seniors graduating from high school, we have filled quilted bags with items for the graduating seniors, and we have decorated collection boxes for the LoveDelivered campaign. There are always plenty of volunteer opportunities, large or small. It is an honor to work with Day 1 Bags. Kristin R.
Thank you to Hunter and his team at Day 1 Bags for donating beautiful Christmas filled bags to our Teens with Divinity Family Services. Torchys Tacos was gracious enough to offer their sleigh to help transport and deliver these Day 1 Bags. Teamwork to help fulfill Christmas Wishes to children in care throughout Texas!!
We were blessed to partner with Day 1 Bags to provide duffel bags to every child our CASA program serves. We advocate for children who have been affected by abuse and neglect in four counties. It was an easy process working with an organization whose mission we whole- heartedly support. We see first-hand what children deal with when entering foster care and moving between foster homes, and we know this gesture of providing a duffel bag will have a huge impact on each child. Hunter was especially responsive and helpful. We are so grateful for this wonderful opportunity!
Our office is eternally grateful to Hunter and Day 1 Bags for everything they do across our great state. Their generosity and commitment to service are truly inspiring. Day 1 Bags' generosity is truly making a difference in the lives of so many young people.

Hunter Beatons nonprofit Day1 Bags has made a huge impact on the lives of kiddos all around our great nation. I am so proud of his efforts and action to help this population feel loved and cherished. Way to go Hunter. Thanks for dreaming big and providing for an underrepresented population!!
I have a friend who volunteered at CASA and I often donated my daughter's clothes, including prom dresses, costume jewelry , stuffed animals and used luggage. When Hunter started his Eagle Scout project to have new decent luggage for the foster children , I was so impressed with his ideas and spirit. My friend at CASA was thrilled to see kids with new bags filled with hope. Hunter is an amazing young man and I pray that Day 1 Bags will continue to Thrive. Thank you for all you do Hunter, and all involved in this thoughtful and caring contribution to those in need.
Congratulations to Hunter and his amazing insight into the needs of so many foster children. Continued thanks and appreciation for all you have accomplished and continue to pursue.
Thank you for always giving back to youth in foster care. Your gifts, like the Teddy Bears, mean so much and I think of how kind your organization has been to youth in care.
The world needs more young adults like Hunter. He saw a need t provide dignity for children in the foster system and created a solution. He has grown this local project into a statewide program that serves so many. This is truly love for others put into action!
