Review for African Vision of Hope, Maryville, IL, USA
This summer I was blessed to travel with a team of four other Westminster Christian Academy teachers to Zambia to work with African Vision of Hope. While there we visited five of their seven schools that are providing free education, food, medical care, and shelter to children in extreme poverty. This organization works as the hands and feet of Jesus to care for and serve those in desperate need. We were able to work with teachers there and provide some professional development and leadership training. While we traveled there to teach, we were taught as well. I learned that the joy of Christ is not bound to circumstances. I learned that the face of poverty has a name, a story, an identity. I learned that the gospel can transform the world. I heard story after story of God’s work in the lives of children and adults that were rescued out of suffering and need. This experience changed me, and I will never be the same.
