I've been involved with Adopt A Boxer Rescue for over 10 years. I adopted a dog with them, Eli, and had such a positive experience I decided to become a volunteer as well. My volunteering has me doing everything from performing home visits for prospective adopters to sewing quilts for our annual auction to posting GoFund Me requests.

But the most rewarding part of volunteering is fostering. I have fostered over 20 Amish puppy mill moms. These are the mother dogs who produce litter after litter to make their owners money but they live in squalor with no human kindness or veterinary care - until they no longer produce profitable litters. Adopt A Boxer Rescue saves these dogs that would otherwise be "discarded" and places them in foster homes. The moms I have fostered came to me broken, scared, unhealthy and in pain. They were afraid of me, my dogs, my home and basic creature comforts. Most have never slept with softness or knew the security of food.

Adopt A Boxer Rescue not only saves these dogs but gives them a second chance on life. The dogs I fostered all were adopted to incredible families and went on to an amazing lives. Fostering is a rewarding, although challenging, journey. Adopt A Boxer Rescue goes above and beyond for the dogs and also to support and assist their volunteer network.
