Filling a gap for foster youth. As a quilter I make quilts to donate to their graduating seniors program but they also provide bags so kids don’t have to keep their things in trash bags! I love the heart for foster kids that this organization shows and coming along side to help is a natural.

I believe in the mission and heart of Day 1 Bags and have made quilts to walk along side this organization as they continue to make a difference in the lives of children who didn’t always have a trustworthy adult standing up for them. I believe we are called to care for those around us and they are standing in the gap for so many children in our country that need to know that they are worthy and have value just like the rest of us.

This was my first year to make a quilt to donate but it won’t be my last. This is an amazing organization and I am honored to get to participate in their mission. I get to do what I love doing and I give most of my quilts away as gifts so this is just another opportunity to create, enjoy fabric and give. These children have endured so much more than my kids ever had to deal with, it is a small gesture on my part to show them some love.
