I have worked in comics retailing for approaching thirty years and I’ve read comics for over five decades. In that time, I have come across a myriad number of comic professionals and knowledgeable individuals within the industry and the various fandoms attached to it. If I had to pick just one of these countless souls (living or dead) to have a conversation with or give me a recommendation about comics it would be- without hesitation- Jason H. Kelley of the Comics Appreciation Project. Please note that includes multiple Eisner winners, industry legends such as Julie Schwartz, and many others that have devoted their lives to the medium. I say so without a shred of hyperbole.

I have been honored to know Mr. Kelley for over thirty years. While our association began as him working in my comic book store, it has grown from those humble origins to a lasting friendship than means more to me than any comic that I have ever read. He is knowledgeable to a degree of ridiculousness and his opinion on comics is one that I can count on time and time again. I can’t think of a single comic that he’s suggested that I didn’t that something away from. In my professional life, I’ve been asked to lend a hand at many projects over the years but none that I take such a personal interest in. I know that every dime I’ve donated and ever moment I will spend in promoting the Comics Appreciation Project is a very valid thing indeed.
