Review for Crafting Change, Eugene, OR, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I’ve always had a calling to serve in my community and had explored volunteering in various ways. But none of them affected me the way using my sewing skills did. I joined this group in 2021 to volunteer sew in my spare time. This is an amazing group whom I consider as great global citizens. While they sew, knit and crochet needed handmade items for people throughout the US, they also provide handsewn goods to the people of Ukraine affected by the war with Russia. In addition, they provide sewn items for ongoing projects in Africa. I have sewn off/on through the years for many charity organizations and I find this to be one of the best organized. Not only do they provide us with ongoing support and connection within their Facebook group, they have a rapport with the organizations that receive the items. These are some of the friendliest, hardworking, and talented people who give so much to help the group run effectively. I’m glad I can pick projects within my skill level and feel like I can help others with my talents. All of their projects include requirement details and thorough instructions. It is perfect for beginners, especially if you are just learning to sew. It is a great way to learn to enhance your skills if you are an intermediate sewists. My skills have improved and I’ve learned many new techniques such as chain sewing to increase my productivity. These skills are valuable to use in other sewing pursuits I have.

We are so grateful for volunteers like you! You have been with us for a long time, sew for projects you care about and see the wide array of projects we have to offer. We like that you recognized that we can all learn new skills and become better at our crafts together within our community! WE love to learn together. Thanks so much for all you do to help those in need!
