I have been a nurse for over 40 years and found myself without a job after working for the government in a contractor status. I attended the Career Gateway Expo program one day event and found so many resources for myself and friends but needed more of a full time job. I know what you are thinking nurses can get jobs anywhere! But can you believe that I had never had my resume reviewed? or developed interviewing skills? I made the choice to continue with the JCA Career Gateway program that was 5 days. I couldn't believe the individual and one on one support I got including resume review by five people! I was also provided with interviewing skills, LinkedIn education, how to stay current in my job search and not get discouraged, how to negotiate compensation, so many skills! It was literally the best thing I could have done for myself. I really to this day cannot believe what a fantastic opportunity this way and afterwards I received job coaching support and continued support from Jodie and the team. One of the most amazing opportunities and I am so glad I took advantage of it. It is the reason I have the job I do today, and I got it in two weeks. I am being paid what I wanted and have amazing benefits. The JCA of Greater Washington Career Gateway Program was simply the very best opportunity I have ever taken advantage of for my own personal success.
