Review for Operation Paws for Homes, N.Chesterfield, VA, USA
I adopted my beagle through OPH. I had been trying to adopt a dog through various other sites, and the process was very long, but did not result in an adoption. ONe place never contacted me back, and another (after requesting numerous home photos) had too many applicants for available dogs. These places had very few available dogs, and there were many restrictions on their adoptions.OPH contacted my references quickly, then contacted me for a phone interview. Although I could not adopt the dog I first choose, they suggested several other matches, and I was able to choose and adopt one within a few weeks. I was able to get the size, age and breed best suited for me. They took care of the immunizations, supplied all records and followed up to see how things were going. The dogs are in good health. They have many dogs available. They are friendly and professional. All dogs are adopted from foster care vs a shelter. so there is a little information from the foster before adoption, and a chance to meet the dog, then decide. The only thing that was a bit difficult is that there is no background information on the dogs (other than the fosters observation) and I believe that info could help me to better understand my new dog. But all in all, a great and happy experience.
