I never realized (until I needed their resources) that not all counties in Pennsylvania have wildlife rehabilitators and that each center is only permitted to care for certain wildlife. Wildbird Recovery provides care for songbirds, swifts, swallows, and birds of prey. This incredible network of individuals don’t receive federal or state funding. It’s incredibly important for the public to support wildlife rehabilitators so that the services can continue to exist! I was surprised to find out that Wildbird Recovery may temporarily close at certain times. I now better understand that this will happen when there is an influx of wild bird patients that they admit from the public. All centers experience these temporary closures though!

My children enjoy their education programs and have attended summer camp and storytime. They do a wonderful job structuring class and keeping everyone engaged! The Turkey Vulture is one of their favorites to visit. His home is the front part of the aviary and the other half of the aviary is a pre-release enclosure for songbirds that are gaining strength for future release. Every May, we make a visit to purchase native plants. I love that they propagate native plants from their center.
