Modeling workshops transformed my classroom! As science department chair for a suburban school district, I quickly enrolled additional staff members in local workshops and began working toward becoming a workshop facilitator. My belief is that every new and experienced teacher could benefit from an AMTA workshop. Student engagement, retention, and interest are engraved in a curriculum that meets the needs of the modern classroom. Modeling combines equity and inclusion as instructors develop a “we culture” where students uncover scientific knowledge using skills that foster lifelong learning and problem solving. As a veteran teacher, modeling transformed my classroom!
