My family and I were gifted a respite trip after my diagnosis of uterine leiomyosarcoma. We cried, laughed, skipped rocks, ate s’mores and participated in family activities and competitions. The days were spent with one another enjoying our time together without the daily life routine of work, school and sports. It was a trip we will always remember. It was a gift of time. It was a break from cancer and all of the worries that come with it. A time to slow down the hectic lives we live and talk to one another and enjoy each other’s company.
