When I retired four years ago, I knew I wanted to spend my time volunteering. I also knew I liked horses but did not have much experience. What I didn't know was the wonderful journey, the growth and rewards I would experience at Serenity.
Through Serenity I have learned so much about horses, their behaviors, their habits, their care. How they communicate with us, and how we can listen to them. I have seen when love is given, and trust develops beautiful relationships happen between horses and humans.
I have also seen horses come to the rescue broken both physically and emotionally and with tender care and love seen them become whole again.
The horses are not the only reason to volunteer at Serenity, the people are amazing. We work as teams, supporting each other and lifting each other up. I have enjoyed my time working with fellow volunteers and have made some wonderful friendships.
The work is not always easy, mucking stalls, cleaning paddocks, but it always feels fulfilling.
When I first started, I thought I might do this for a year, it's been four and I see no end in sight.

I have been volunteering with Serinty for just over 2 years. Wow!! What a wonderful experience it has been. I never had horses growing up but I have always been drawn to them. Working at Serenity has given me so much confidence in working with these majestic creatures. Everything I have given them, I have received back 10 fold.
The work they do there and the people who volunteer is all top tier and I couldn’t recommend it more.
