If selected to speak I would describe the model that Operation ASHA is currently using to treat tuberculosis and prevent multiple drug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis in India and Cambodia. This model, which involves the training and employment of counselors who live in the urban slums where Operation ASHA's patients live, has resulted in remarkably lower rates of default among tuberculosis patients than have been achieved previously.
