I am a volunteer at The Haven so I know that what the public sees goes to the core of every individual working with the fur babies, employees and volunteers. The goal is to find every dog and cat a loving forever home as soon as possible but in the meantime they are not lacking for expert care and compassion. Animals are a great judge of character and the dogs and cats at The Haven can feel that they are in loving hands.

It’s the job of an animal shelter to provide a safe place for dogs and cats in transition as they wait for their forever home. It’s a calling when that shelter additionally provides love and compassion. When I began volunteering at The Haven I immediately sensed it was not a shelter but a (hopefully) temporary home filled with love for each animal. Every single staff member and every single volunteer that I have met, without exception, focuses not only on the physical needs of the animals but the emotional needs as well. At The Haven it’s animals first!
