My wife and I spent twenty six years building a Food Bank network in southwest Florida. We loved our work of helping needy families and it was extremely rewarding in every way except financial security for us. We retired several years ago and were getting by well until I developed wet Macular Degeneration. My doctor tried several drugs with little results. I entered two clinical studies of new drugs because I wouldn't have to pay for my treatments. That lasted two years but nothing changed in my diagnosis. I was told the only drug we hadn't tried was expensive and I stated we just couldn't afford that much every four weeks. My doctor said not to worry because they were applying to Good Days for me and all I had to do was meet certain criteria. I met the criteria and the support from Good Days was make the treatment possible. Now my other eye has gone wet so I'll be getting two injections a month. Without Good Days I would have stopped treatment due to the cost. I'm 78 years old, no longer drive, but I enjoy life with my wife and our family and grandchildren. We are still hoping a new drug will come along to actually stop the progression of AMD but with the help from Good Days I know we are doing our best for now.
