Review for Shree Maharishi Bhrigu Ashram, Trabuco Canyon, CA, USA
Overall my experience with this ashram was mixed. The ashram is run by Guruji and Guruma. I believe some of the things the ashram does is really great in the means of narrating Hindu scriptures and helping people through tough times through the means of astrology and readings.
Unfortunately, the environment that exists in the ashram is a bit worrisome. Women are constantly in the kitchen making food. The men just sit there while the women cook food. Also, Guruji and Guruma play favorites. He has a few of his devotees who he always talks to and enjoys with. Certain people are given better treatment than the rest. I don’t see a sense of equality. Especially, since the discourses talk mainly about equality it is quite shocking to see these things.
I really believe the Ashram can be great for society but I hope environmental things do change for the better. I have been a part of Art of Living, Isha Foundation and many more places and I see that sense of equality and harmony. The guru’s over there are very careful about even saying a word and don’t want to hurt anyones feelings.
To recap a Few things:
1) Equality - Have women and men do the same things. Don’t tire the women out from cooking all day for everyone. Women used to cook and clean in previous century. This is a new age now.
2) Favoritism - Be equal with everyone.
3) Mindful of peoples feelings - The Guruma oftentimes says things that are hurtful. People have feelings and I hope things can be improved.
All the best to the ashram and if these things change it will be a perfect environment.
Dear "spiritual_aspirant", It would be nice if we have a name to the person who has posted this. Bhrigu Ashram has been connected with many folks over many number of years who have greatly benefited in all aspects of their lives. And we take pride in knowing each and everyone who comes here to the Ashram. There is no one here that is "not known". So it will be nice if you identify yourself and we know who is commenting. The reason being that in the past we had identified one or two person(s) who would frequently change their id's anonymously here and post sometimes derogatory absuive information and sometimes not so derogatory without any basis. This had then compelled us to contact our attorney firm to take legal action. Your post lacks a proper name or any identification. It would be nice to know who is commenting so that we can put a face to the comments. Again all ashram activity is purely voluntary and geared towards promoting spiritual progress for everyone.
