Review for All for the Love of Whiskers, Kerhonkson, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Some years ago I inherited a feral colony of barn cats from my neighbor, who could no longer afford to feed them. He had never had any of them vaccinated or neutered, and there were a lot of cats and kittens. It was a daunting task, but little by little I got it all done. Kittens tamed and adopted (or I kept lol) and the adults back in their barn but no longer reproducing.
Fast forward two years, and I had a full house of cats and dogs to care for. It seemed that every penny I earned went to animal care. One day I was feeding the remaining barn cats and noticed a small black cat way back in the bushes observing. She was obviously hungry, but nervous about the other cats. I started putting a separate bowl of food closer to her bush, and within a few days she was coming closer. She was so friendly, obviously she had been dumped on my property. Because people knew I have cats, so why not give me their unwanted pets? Ugh.
Anyway, I was able to get her on my lap, so I popped her in a carrier and took her to the vet to be tested, planning to bring her indoors if she was healthy. Vet said good news, bad news. Good news that she was negative for all the nasty diseases, bad news that she was nursing kittens. I had to put her back outdoors so she could care for her 4 babies.
Soon she brought her babies to meet me, and I got them all indoors. Now I had 5 additional cats that I was responsible for. I was truly at my wits end.
I met Sue from All for the Love of Whiskers through a mutual friend, and she was just amazing. She vaccinated all of the babies, and when they were old enough, found them great homes.
Over the years more pregnant cats dumped on my property, and each time Sue stepped up to help me with them. Low cost spay/neuter clinics make it possible for anyone to get their pets neutered.

This fabulous animal rescue creates miracles every day. Sue and her dedicated volunteers
save many, many animals each year, depending on donations to survive.

I can't say enough good things about All for the Love of Whiskers.

The photo is my beautiful Domino. She is one of the former feral barn cats that I kept. She is now a very happy and healthy indoor cat.
