Review for Operation Kindness, Carrollton, TX, USA
Just like picking your fur baby is about finding the right fit, so is choosing an organization for whom to volunteer your time. I've tried big, small, and everything in between, and Operation Kindness is the right fit for me.
They're obviously well established, which allows them to have the experience and resources to be a well-oiled machine, but they have managed to keep the feel of a smaller organization by making you feel important, communicating so well, and being easy to navigate. When I have had questions or concerns, the staff has been accommodating and patient. The medical team, which conveniently has its state-of-the-art facility on site, is top notch professionally and yet still finds a way to explain things in layman's terms and somehow makes the foster volunteer leave thinking he/she is the one who is the foster pet's hero.
My initial concern with OpK's adoption process was that the foster volunteer couldn't know who adopted the foster pet unless he/she found an adopter. However, this isn't a concern for me anymore because I trust the reasoning behind it and trust OpK to find the foster pet a great home. Also, this limited personal investment comes with the benefit that the foster volunteer is not personally responsible for promoting the foster pet, which is difficult for many people to do, and it ensures that we don't hang onto those for whom we can't find adopters and can open our homes to new ones right away. For me, it's OpK all the way!
Lisa, thank you so much for your kind words and the trust that you have in us. We are so grateful!
